Experience with being accepted with withdrawls

I'm wondering if any of you have had any experience with being accepted or invited to interviews with W's. When I first started college I wasn't sure that it was what I wanted to do. I signed up for classes and dropped them before i even took an exam, but I got W's for them. I actually did this twice so I have 6 W's that are all at the start of my transcript. None of those classes were science related, it was a rag tag assortment of classes that really shows I had no clue what I was doing.

A year later I decided dentistry was what I wanted to do with my life and I have not had any W's since then. My Cum GPA and science GPA are both around 3.7 (around 80 degree credits completed) and I'll be taking the DAT this summer.

Im hoping I'll be able to explain to the adcoms that the W's were because I was at an unsure point in my life (I had just completed my service in the US Army). If anyone has a similar situation that turned out positively I would love to hear it.

Schools are going to look at your track record when looking at the application. I know a couple people who early in their college careers who withdrew an entire semester to avoid flunking out. They, too, got their heads on straight and decided they wanted to become a health professional. They are now physicians. You have a great GPA and looking at how many credits you have, you have the ability to raise your GPA even higher. You should be fine. You will most likely get may interviews as long as you don't stink up the DAT. If you are questioned about the W's on your transcript, be hoest. Let them know the real reason. They are looking for honesty. They know young adults have a problem making decisions early on. As long as you got back on the right track (as you have shown), you'll be just fine.

Plus, your military experience will help them show you are motivated.

I dropped calc 3 (didn't need it for my major, lot of dumb busy work for nothing) and it shows up as a W. It hasn't hurt me yet. As long as the rest of your track record looks good, which it looks like it is, you'll be fine.

I had 2 W's (comparative anatomy lab and genetics lecture) on my transcript. I was invited to 5 interviews, attended 4 of them, and was accepted to all 4. I wasn't even asked about the W's at any of my interviews.

I'm pretty sure I will get a B+ in orgo at a minimum but if something does go wrong and I end up with a C+/B- how do schools look at re-taking as opposed to withdrawing? I mean either way I have to retake the class and it shows that I didnt fail the first time through.. any insight?
