Anyone had any of their test scores rescored, and if so, had it changed?

Yeah, I'd definitely like to know the answer. The rumor that I've read is that rescores have only been successful on the writing section, never on the computer graded sections. I also saw on the AAMC site that scores can go down. Of course, if your score in a section is so much worse than what you expected that you are requesting a rescore, then it is probably not that likely that it would get even lower after the rescore. And, you can have only one section regraded. I don't know about the rest of the questions. Here is the info:

My curiosity finally got to me and I just called the MCAT offices in Iowa. The gentleman I talked to confirmed that there has never been an adjusted score in the history of the MCAT (on mult choice). So, that doesn't look good, but all hope is not lost. Eventually the computer is gonna mess up, right? Just depends how important $50 is to you.

He also said you can go ahead and send in your application. If there is a correction to the score, they'll inform the schools.

The last thing, which I guess I should've asked him, is what happens if there is some type of standardized error. What I mean by this is something like a mistake in calculating the scale. I seriously doubt this possibility, but most of the posts I've seen about rescoring or someone surprised about a section being lower than usual have been about the verbal section. Regardless, I'm gonna submit a rescore and take my chances. The peace of mind is worth $50.

I worked with a girl last year who was contacted by AAMC, while she was applying, and was told that they had made an error and she actually scored 2 points higher. They refunded her $200 for the mistake.

I would just die if I got the flip-side of that call and they said that they made and error and I scored 2 points lower. Hopefully they'd let those kinds of mistakes "slide". 😱

That is very interesting. Do you know any more about it? Was it a rescore, or a scaling error? Did she originally pay the $50. Thanks for the hope!

there was a couple of threads a looong time ago about rescores and for the most part people said that they haven't heard of anyone's grade changing and those who got there tests rescored their scores remained the same. Although one person said they heard of one guy who got a rescore and went down 1 point in verbal.

yea i dont thinkt hat im going to rescore. odds are for me (my VR was an 8- not so bad not so great) the amount of questions i do need to get right to change to a 9 is probably outside the realm of possibility that a computer made the error. im going to keep my score as it, and be happy with it 🙂

I don't know if she paid for a rescore, but from how surprised she sounded, I don't think she did.
