So, recently I've gotten many e-mails from Pharmcas about schools extending their deadlines. Just curious, but does this happen a lot every year?
I've noticed maybe 10 schools per year extend their deadlines. It's sad though because it shows how saturated the field is and they don't have enough qualified applicants applying.
Either that or they are trying to get all the application fees they can possibly get. Schools are a business after all. That sounds bad, but who knows.See I was just kind of wondering if that's typical, or if schools are having trouble filling all their spots.

I absolutely agree. Sooner or later, your next door neighbor will have Pharm.D degree. This field is definitely not what it used to be. I wonder how long before there will be so many pharmacy schools that pharmacists will not be able to find any opportunities out there and the total applicant profile is dumbed down... ohwait.![]()

Pharmacists are already finding it difficult to get a job at a pharmacy, but who cares? The direction of pharmacy is moving away from retail and going towards clinical and research.
A job is easy in pharmacy if you work for that opportunity. You have to make your own luck by networking and really standing out in pharm school
Are you a pharmacist? have you applied for a pharmacy position? The general speculation of more grads = less jobs = oversaturation is not the case at all if you are willing to put in the effort to stand out and work harder than everyone else in a pharmD program.Easy implies there's little work to be put in to get a pharmacy job besides applying for it. That world doesn't exist anymore as more people graduate from pharmacy school each year, flooding the marketplace with more and more pharmacists.

In states such as Maine and Texas, there are a large shortage of pharmacists.

How can it be easy if it requires hard work and being above average? That sounds like the opposite of easy to me.
Bro it's super easy to get a job as a pharmacist. You just have to pull your bootstraps really hard and graduate as number 1 in your class and then move to texas and maine

No I haven't but this is what practicing pharmacists in California tell me.
To put things in perspective, one my of practicing pharmacists in retail told me to turn away from pharmacy. So I need to listen to her and just drop this all together.
Mock me if you wish, but I take this very seriously. Number 1 in the class is achievable and I'll do whatever it takes to get there (even if backstabbing is involved)
You should if you can't understand the original point of my post. Perhaps you spam the board less and take that time to brush up on thinking and reading comprehension.
It's ok bro, my 92 on reading comp will cover that.
You take it very seriously? How are your credentials if you take it that seriously? Are you going to a top 5 school? Are you that serious about it? Or is this just all talk?
you don't need to be in a top 5 school to work hard and succeed. I am serious about it. My credentials are that I've been rock bottom before so I know how important hard work is. It is not unachievable to attain a #1 class ranking. I'm certainly not stating that being #1 in your class will guarentee you a job, but I can assure you that if you work your life away in school and build a strong foundation, landing a job will be easy as pie.you don't need to be in a top 5 school to work hard and succeed. If hard work didn't give you an advantage in finding a job, then everyone would just slack off and do just enough to pass, or maybe that's what all these people who can't find jobs have been doing? Ever think about that?
