Extremely dumb question...

...but it seems like I can't find the answer anywhere, so I figure I'll ask here and get tomatoes thrown.

Orthopaedic surgeons - are they MD or DO? Or can they be either one? Is one better than the other? When I looked up MD, it mentioned muscoskeletal work, but I don't want to assume because assumption, well, we know what that does.

Both MDs and DOs can become orthopedic surgeons. Doesn't make any difference.

Thank you so much! I looked everywhere, but nowhere had a definitive answer - they just talked about the degrees, not what you could be with them. Finally, an answer!

no problem. DOs can go into all of the same specialties as MDs can. Both are full-physicians.
