did anyone get this email:

Recently, you submitted an application for admissions to Nova Southeastern
University. We thank you for your interest.

In this competitive world, education is a key factor to success. However, financing
your education can pose a challenge in attaining this goal. Your financial burden
may be significantly lessened by applying for financial assistance. The first step
in doing so would be to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
You may complete a FAFSA form online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Additional
information is available on the financial aid process, types of financial assistance
available, online resources, and contacts can be found on our Nova Southeastern
University financial aid web site, http://www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid.

if so...what is it for..and am i suppose to fill out the fafsa form?

i got it too, just about filling out a fafsa

Nova is just concerned that applicants get a jump on applying for financial aid. FAFSA,the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is the governments financial aid application. You can fill it out for next year (2006) in January if you have already done your taxes for 2005, although most people submit it around March. The most you will receive from the government, excluding need-based aid, is around $38,500. If you attend a school whose total cost of attendance exceeds this amount you will need to find and apply for other assistance, and that is what the link to Nova's financial aid office is for. It's a good idea to think ahead about costs, loans, and the like, but still too early for you to worry yourself into a hole. Financial aid is a gorilla most people don't look forward to dancing with, although it's not a difficult subject and every school's financial aid office is very familiar with the process and is very willing to help you out.

If you will be attending dental school next fall then, yes, you can fill one out in January, although most people wait until a couple of months later due to late arrival of W2 forms, completing their taxes, getting their parent's tax returns, and so on. You don't want to wait until the last minute as the process can take a while to go through. Thus, try to have it done by at least April to avoid any trouble.

Doesn't fafsa help to calculate the amount of grants for 4 years of undergrad?
