Failed out the first semester, looking for advice

I said I am here for a peek behind the curtain...I didn't say I was giving bad advice. US and DO is unequivocally better. But I have known hundreds, possibly thousands of students. I have heard what they had to say, their experiences. I have seen students succeed and fail. In all of this, all I have ever wished for, is for the students to succeed.

I am a bit defensive, can't help it. I've seen schools do good by their students and wrong. But what I see on these forums sometimes, *often times*, is complete conjecture and misinformation. I didn't want to out myself, but I intend to answer truthfully. Believe it or don't.
