Hey All,

Got into USF - environmental health...



Accepted: UPitt-epi, UIC-epi, USF-enviro

Waiting: Yale-envrio, Emory-global/epi, Tulane-global, Boston-global, Drexel-epi?, GW-global
 
Just as I was beginning to resent OPUS...in at EMORY for Global Health -Infectious Diseases! The "view decision" link gave me a brief welcome letter and a supplemental form for deposit instructions. Should have a packet coming via snail mail in a few days.

Timetable: I got the "Application Complete/Under Review" email 11/16 and the acceptance today 12/11. So, a little over 3 weeks when the Emory estimate was 3-6 weeks.

As always, congrats to everyone else and keep the acceptances coming!
 
Congrats kubajf and SJD24!

kubajf, when did you get the application complete email from UPitt?

Emory sent me the application complete email on 11/17, but I applied for epi. Different departments take different times I guess.

yea mine said that they sent me an official notification about my application being forwarded for review on November 18th and i still haven't heard anything so yea...i applied for epi/four semesters as my 1st choice then global epi as 2nd choice and then biostats as a 3rd choice

though Kyle (the Emory adrep) did say to add up to three weeks (to an email I got 12/1) because of the Thanksgiving holiday that had occurred.

on another note, anyone know anything about Yale? i haven't heard anything from them at all...

Oct 29th Pitt confirmed my SOPHAS
Nov 5th the department confirmed that they got my application
Nov 17th Acceptance via email (and couple days later via snail mail)

Thank you. I am really excited for the Emory nod. In a related note, someone should start a thread titled "I have the caps-lock sensitive random/nonsensical password memorized for OPUS". I have a feeling there are more of us out there...😎

called tulane to ask if they had received all of my materials and was told, "yes we have everything here on file and in fact you have been accepted into the mph program in epidemiology, a letter should arrive in the next few days."

undergrad liberal arts mol biology major (3.4), 1450/4.5 gre, substantial research experience.

waiting: dartmouth, osu, suny albany, emory, umich, yale

I got home from a stint working in the backcountry today to find what I thought was another letter from my undergrad asking for more $$. Turns out, it was a small Yale University envelope yielding great tidings of cheer! Post-marked December 4th. No scholarships (not surprised, heh). I'm so pumped! I can't wait to hear back from my other three top choices :laugh:.

Is Emory on winter break yet? If so, then I can stop checking OPUS 30 times per day.

UTPH-- my app was complete on Nov 23 (that's when i got the "app complete" email. I wouldn't fret yet though! It's still early.

The schools I'm most anxious to hear back from is your list as well: Berkeley, Harvard and Washington...
 
Got a call from North Carolina wanting to set up an interview for the MHA program. I scheduled it for 01/15. Anyone else set to interview there?
 
hey yale guys, SOPHAS sent my app out on 12/8, and I haven't heard from Yale that they have my stuff yet. Is it normal?
 
That is definitely normal..it hasn't even been a week. I got my email from Yale exactly one week after sophas mailed it out.. maybe you'll get an email tomorrow. But if it takes longer I wouldn't worry yet, their admissions office probably has more apps to deal with than when I sent mine in.
 
Congrats to those who have been accepted! But like most of us posting, I'm sure we're still waiting on other schools to reply.

I'm interested in the infectious diseases MPH program and have only applied to UC Berkeley and Yale. The only other school that offers an MPH in this area is John Hopkins (that I know of). So far, I have received a letter of acceptance from Yale.

utph: Can I ask which term you applied for at John Hopkins? I'm trying to apply for the Fall 2010 term but it seems to be unavailable. If I read correctly, the deadline isn't until June 2010 and the online application isn't available for Fall 2010 yet.

Does anyone know which school has a better infectious disease program?

I spoke with BU the other day and admissions said they had just begun to review applications this week... if you applied early, you should know by Christmas or the first week of January.

I applied for Fall 2010. It is unavailable because the deadline for the MPH has passed (Dec 1). Classes begin June 2010 so maybe you were mixing up the dates.

i looked at the emory rollins SPH site and it says Dec. 16th is their end of term...but i didn't email the adrep for Emory to see if they're still processing apps...
 
We'll Drexel started accepting - I noticed on SOPHAS today that I was among the 96% of students that they accept! Yay 🙂

SOPHAS complete: 10/26
third letter received by them on 12/11
admitted 11/16



On another note:
Admissions at emory was open today, seeing as they answered when I called them... I'll try to find out how long they are open when I call them again. LOL
 
Professors and admissions committees aren't necessarily gone just because a semester/term is over. I know the committee reviewing PhD applications, which is what I'm applying for this year, here in MN is meeting later this month (this is the last week of finals right now for people who are currently taking classes). People might take a few personal days, but don't expect to hear nothing over the next few weeks. You never know!

Thanks. I thought Fall would begin in August or September. For some reason, the online application is available for July 2010 and I thought that was for a Summer term....

I called emory. If you apply for Epi 3 semester, if rejected from the three semester they will automatically consider you for 4 semesters too.

*** Emory will be reviewing applications through next week, so, right up until christmas*** (she didn't know when exactly the adcom members would be all there after the holidays)

Can somebody tell me what the essay requirements for North Carolina are? Seems like a lot of people applied, but I posted a thread but nobody replied. I just want to know if they require 2 separate essays in the "personal statement" and "supplemental information" sections. Thanks........
 
I only wrote 1 personal statement but I applied for MCH and I doubt that will help you in any way. Sorry :-(

EDIT: I went to the wesbite for MHA and it *looks* like only one statement. BUT I would contact UNC directly. I have had many correspondences with the dept. i'm applying to and they have always been very prompt (within 24 hours). There are two contact people on the MHA website to direct admissions questions to. I would contact them to be completely sure.

Finally! Accepted to Yale Epi program (Chronic Disease). Letter postmarked 12/22. So excited! 😀
