I have already applied to pharm school and I was wondering how much emphasis schools put on your Fall grades. I am worried because I am currently getting a C/C+ in Human Physiology (very tough class).

i would think they put high emphasis on the prereqs.

don't worry. many poeple like yourself save the hard classes for last so it doesn't go on the gpa when they apply.

most of my freinds saved physics until after they apply.

Well, I am on my last prereqs (PHYSICS 🙁) and I will finish Physics 1 next week and I have already gotten an email from one school saying they were waiting for my fall grades to further evaluate my application and Howard sent me a letter saying thye were not going to even LOOK at my application again until physics 2 is complete (in the spring)

Im not taking any pre-reqs this final semester, but I am getting C's. I heard as long as your gpa does not fall below their minimum requirement your ok? Senioritis coupled with an acceptance to a top choice pharmacy school = slacker status.

you shouldn't worry too much in two cases:

1) The physio class in which you're scoring C/C+ is not a pre-requisite

and/or

2) The C/C+ won't drop your GPA/sGPA to a precipitously low point.

If it IS a pre-requisite, do everything you can to get it to a B-, but remember that (for almost all schools), C+ will be acceptable in pre-requisites, and some are O.K. with "C".

I am one of those people who put physics off, and I'm glad I did. It's an impossible class. I'm struggling to hold a B.

Physics is horrible at my University. Averages for all 3 exams for my semester taking algebra based physics 2 was around a 35/100. At that point whats the point in even teaching the class. It doesnt make sense to make classes riculously hard and have everyone fail, only to reward it by curving.

I hate Anatomy and I will probably be taking it again. My school uses a cadaver based curriculum and I can't stand putting my hands in dead people, it just isn't natural. Physics and O-Chem were a breeze compared to Anatomy for me.

my university is the same way. I guess you can look at it as they are trying to weed out the best students from the rest.

but i agree with you. It would be nice to look at my grades and know that I actually earned them instead of thanking the curve for saving my ass from failing😱

Doesn't seem like anyone like physics? I thought physics was fun

Absolutely.

I did not take physics in college yet but I took AP physics B and I really enjoyed the class. Although it may difficult at times, a majority of the things are common sense. If you have a basic understanding of conversions and solving for variables you should be fine.

We have only two physics instructors at my school. One is an arrogant narcissist and the other has a really strong accent, so it's a matter of picking the lesser of two evils. I took non-Calc based Physics one semester and dropped it after three weeks of the guy insulting everybody, including me.

So yeah, I'm like above: taking physics in the Spring. 🙂

Non-calc based FTW. I have a great amount of respect for students choosing to major in physics.

Definitely a +100 on hating physics. I love conceptual physics and was in honors physics in high school. When I got to college I was thinking to myself, "Physics... no biggie." Boy was I wrong. Averages were 40% or so and I barely managed to get C's to pass all the way through the last year of pre-pharm. Those C's (4 credit hour/14 credit hour schedule) really dropped my GPA.

Some schools may wait for your fall quarter grades and then make their decisions. For me, I simply had to ride the rest of the year out making C's in order to maintain my acceptance.

That's what im doing right now. Im taking my last final of undergrad on Friday. All I needed was C's , but I am most likely ending up with As and Bs. How this happened, I have no idea. I had senioritis like a motha.
