Neuroscience and French double major, graduated from private T20-25 school (2019)
Research:
1000 hrs Parkinson’s disease research at well-known primate center
-completed senior thesis with highest honors
-co author on 2 abstracts
-orally presented poster at Society for Neuroscience conference in San Diego
Will complete ~2000 hrs as an NIH IRTA fellow in a multiple sclerosis lab during my gap year
-mainly will work with non-human primates taking MRI scans to track de-myelination in the disease course
-will also have opportunities for clinical exposure (PI is a neurologist with an MS clinic and ongoing clinical trials)
Shadowing: 160 hrs
-with several neurologists in a movement disorders clinic, weekly for one year
Volunteering:
-cancer clinic and ER (160 hrs, 2 semesters in clinic and 1 semester in ER)
-public health global brigades trip (50 hrs)
-teaching ESL classes to adult immigrants in DC during gap year (once a week, expected 160 hours by end of year)
Other:
-Wrote and edited for undergraduate medical journal (4 semesters)
-summer intern at health technology start-up and wrote intro and discussion for 3 research studies on eye movements as bio markers for traumatic brain injury (currently working on revisions from peer-reviewers for publication this summer)
-proficient in French (studied abroad twice)

*I know I'm OOS for the UC schools, but I have family in CA, would love to attend school there, and want to take a chance applying.
Any additions or schools to be removed would be appreciated! Aiming to apply to 22-25 schools and trying to target research-heavy schools.
