Since there is no thread on feline HW Dz I thought I'd start one. Just want to get your opinions on it. Seems like most of the docs I have worked for don't really push (or even mention) HWP for our cat clients. I personally am a feline HW advocate and recommend all of our feline clients to use Revolution as their flea prevention just to get that added umf of HWP.

There are a series of neat articles in the "Supplement to Veterinary Forum" Vol 24, March 2007. Cover says "Parasite Developments - Proceedings from the 2007 NAVC Conference & 2007 Western Veterinary Conference" -- if you work at a vet clinic there is probably a copy of this hanging out somewhere, I'd recommend taking flip through it if interested in feline HW dz.

EDIT: To add... The first article (by Dr. Atkins at NCSU) he said "I advocate preventative therapy in cats in endemic areas." The 2nd article was contrasting canine vs feline HW and really didn't provide a conclusion in regards to prevention.

As most vets believe, I think it would totally depend on what area you are working in.
If you are seeing cats here, Southern California? Not necessarily. But in Florida? Oh, yeh, you gotta give them out some preventatives.

The vets at the clinic I work at are pushing revolution, for cats, hard. This only started last month.

Personally I don't like (trust) revolution... but it seems like a lot of cats won't eat the feline Heartgard. Have ya'll heard anything (good or bad) about the new product by bayer Advantage MULTI?

i've heard that the ingredients have too many neg. side effects. personally, i live revolution for cats.... dogs? eh.... i guess it's' ok.
