I'm pretty confident I will be approved for the fee waiver...I haven't started the process yet though, so my question is weather or not being financially disadvantaged will help my application or not? I have the money saved to pay for the apps , so if the benifit doesn't outweigh the additional time waiting on the fee waiver to be approved, I have my app all ready to submit tomorrow afternoon.

What should I do? I'm boarderline on my application as it is, so everything I can get on my side is much needed. Also, I don't get my MCAT scores for about 3 more weeks, will that hold my primary app up as it is anyways?

Thanks guys!

If you can save Money why not?

Your App will still be processed and sent without your MCAT score. It wont hold up your application from being processed.

Unless you have some sort of life changing/molding experience from your financial background and you have written about it in your PS I can't say its to your advantage. More people qualify for the fee waiver than people think, or in my study n=2, guys I thought would never get the fee waved got it. It wont hurt or help your application having your fee waived.

I'm a bit confused as you are mixing two entirely different items.

The fee waiver is to save $$, and is based upon your current income, and doesn't have ANY effect on your application at all.

Disadvantaged on your application, is stating you were financially or otherwise disadvantaged as a child and you want them to give you credit for overcoming.

Claiming disadvantaged on your application does impact how schools look at you but has nothing to do with saving money on application fees.

Yep ^^

When I called NYCOM this past cycle to get a status update, they basically told me I was rejected but asked if I could possibly qualify as financially disadvantaged in any way. The guy was a bit of a douche about it, but I got the impression that if my parents made less money or something I might have gotten a 2nd look by the school. Eff them.

Oh I see whats going on now, I was under the impression you had to be approved for the fee waiver in order to claim disadvantaged on your app...guess not
