Hello everybody! Sorry I didn't post here anymore but I am having some personal problems and have lost my mojo for the last couple of weeks. Now I am back in the game and started with Anatomy. I have planned out every day because if I don't do that and just say, "ok, I have 10 days for Anatomy", then I procrastinate and I end up having to read everything in the last 3 days, which of course, is nonsense.
How have you all been? Are you on track? Right now I am only reading from Kaplan Nbde Part I and First Aid Ndbe(just for review) and I will do the decks in the end. Don;t know anything about other sourced because I didn't try anything else and I think these books are enough. I don't know if I can remember everything from Kapla, let alone other books.
I might have to postpone the exam for another month, don't know exactly when because I might have to move from my current location.
Good luck with your studies everyone!

Has anyone used Crack the Board Mock Exam? I purchased it and so far it is just like the computerized exam. I have taken the test before, let me know what you have heard about this software.

Hey,
which one did you place your hand on ?
its a demand/supply Vs affordability issue .........am sure most will agree with me on this one !

If you can place your hand on the 2009 decks , please go ahead !

hey !!!!!!!
which year decks ur following. i have 2006-07 one?????????? is that fine?

hey !!!!!!!

I am using 2006-2007. Believe, if you know these, Kaplan review and released papers, you are more than fine. I know somebody who scored 91 and somebody else who scored 89 with these materials. Use other sources only if you have things that you don't understand. At least this is what I am doing. I tried to learn from several books and I stayed 3 days to read 10 pages. It takes forever and I don't think it helps. There was a thread last year called something like who is taking nbde in may-june and I followed Huggies posts and then Ninety made a nice summary. They all got great scores and they all tell what sources they have used and how long it took them, etc. Check out that thread. Good luck!

Looking for a serious female study partner who is retaking part2 exam. If anybody interested, pls let me know asap.

hello ALL !
I take the initiative to have a thread for all those of us who plan to take the exam in the first half of 2010 . I'm myself taking the test on April 24th and its of paramount importance to stay motivated and put in our very best during this period of study. We all need to help each other, lest start the new year on a new note, and commit to ourselves to study and work real hard !
So lets all converge here and pool in our thoughts, our strategy , and other related stuff .

Am doing Anatomy right now and hope to be done within a week's time .

No second thought , its a difficult exam and we all badly need to stay in the same studying spree and maintain the flow of thoughts till we're done with exam.

Regards and best wishes to all.
Study well and study hard !

hey truthseeker..thanks for the motivation..

SInce I jsut started studying today, does everyone else in this forum studying biochemistry at this time ? If yes, I would flip to biochemistry and we could start discussion.

Hi everyone, studying dental anatomy and I have some doubts. I request you to look over these questions and share your answers Please.
1. How many cusp tips seen on a mandibular first molar when viewed form buccal surface?
Answer given is 5 (in NBDE Q/A book)
But in Kaplan review on page 804 it says from buccal surface 3 cusps are visible.
Should we choose 5 or 3 for this question?
2. Is mesial marginal ridge and mesial cusp ridge the same?
In Kaplan review page 796 says Mesial cusp ridge is longer than distal cusp ridge for maxillary first premolar. In NBDE Q/A PAGE 212 it says mesial marginal ridge is shorter buccolingually than the more convex distal marginal ridge for maxillary first premolar.I was not sure whether mesial cusp ridge and mesial marginal ridge are same.
3.in wheelers(mine is a very old edition-sixth) in chapter 3 it says eruption of deciduous teeth which is completed between 3 and 4 years of age.As for as my comprehension I understood that they are completed within 2 to 2and a half years. Is this correct?
My question is when will the deciduous teeth complete its eruption sequence?
thanks

No, I asked one person who studied with DB buster, he said he liked it, but he didn't wwant to give more detail explanation. I would say, just go with lots of friends here suggested most :

Fisrt aid
Dwntal decks
Released exams
Pilot 2004
Netter
Kaplan review notes
Wikipedia
Etc

The very top is the most important ones, then put them in order as references.

hi

If anything is left out please someone add them to this

Wannabedentist,

I used Dental Board Busters for part 1. It was an easy read and organized very well. I scored a 90+, you can search for my thread that I started. The book contains past exams as well. I felt with the other resources, I was reading them and wondering what the tests were going to be like with that particular topic. With DBB, I felt like I was reading both the material and the main points that the tests wanted you to know. It was written by dental students who aced the boards and in my opinion, much easier to read than flash cards or first aid(too detailed). If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to answer them. Either way, it all comes down to the time and effort that you put in. Use what you are comfortable with, and spend more time than you did for the DAT, and you will be happy with your results!

Good info! 👍

I asked because a lot of people from our school were purchasing DBB, but I hadn't heard too much about it. I briefly looked over one person's DBB book and it seemed so small in comparison to the big Kaplan book. I heard mixed reviews of the big Kaplan review, some saying it was just TOO detailed for what we need and that you can still score 90+ without it. Our school's having all of our students take part1 in May/June, so I was looking to start soon. Thanks again!

hi, i am a female looking for study partner giving exam by april.pm me if interested.part 2.

Which is not innervated by the ansa cervicalis?

A-Geniohyoid
B-Thyrohyoid
C-Omohyoid
D-Sternohyoid
E-Sternothyroid

Answer is the geniohyoid.

A/B both are branches of C1... Is there any reason why they both are innervated by C1 but GH isn't innervated by Ansa cerv. and TH is innervated by Ansa cerv.??

Geniohyoid : C1 and hypoglossal nerve (XII) via ansa cervicalis
Thyrohyoid : first cervical nerve (C1-C2) via hypoglossal nerve

Thyrohyoid : first cervical nerve (C1-C2) via hypoglossal nerve

Test 1J, question 22 of the Anatomic Sciences section...

Ansa cervicalis is made up of C1-C3, so:

Based on what you said Truth seeker it seems as though TH gets C1-C2 innervation, thus qualifies for being innervated by the ansa cervicalis. I can buy that... So GH only gets C1 innervations so it technically doesn't get innervations from the ansa cervicalis, I suppose.

So I checked wiki bro and it shows on the yellow sidebar "C1 and hypoglossal nerve (XII) via ansa cervicalis." hahahah makes me laugh.

This had to be a question that everyone was missing and they decided to throw it out and so thats why we have it on old released exams.

FYI for you foreign dentists!

Looks like a D1 at our school has had some health problems and is going to get that taken care of and resume school next year. IE there will for sure be one spot for you guys here pretty quick.

Good luck!
