Finding humor in questionable things

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So, watching Tosh.0 and some of the things I laugh at (like dead baby jokes about abortion) many would find appalling. Not to imply Burnett's law on myself, but do any of you find it questionable to laugh at stuff like this?

Laughing at gallows humor is part of the job. You will find Tosh.0 too tame after a few ICU rotations.

I love that type of humor!

You have nothing to fear until you start laughing at Sports Show with Norm MacDonald.

If you don't find humor in questionable things, you sense of humor is questionable, at best.

I think it's fine. Tosh.0 is pretty funny. Also, from my limited experience working with docs I think L2D's statement is pretty accurate.

You're a legendary peds doc in the making

Nothing is sacred with Daniel Tosh and his writers, and I think that's the best form of humor. If you think about it, humor is usually made at the expense of a person/group/situation, but Tosh doesn't protect anyone/anything, not even himself. He's an unbiased, equal-opportunity comedian...and for that, we thank him.

I think that developing a sort of warped/morbid sense of humor is kind of necessary for this field. Your surrounded by sick and dying people all day everyday. It keeps you from going insane, but thats just my opinion.

unless you're putting on your own dead puppy circus for laughs, you're probably ok..

When did we start using Burnett's law so much on SDN? Who is burnett? I know what the law means but I never understood how this name for it started.

dr. b is the progenitor of sdn, which sprung, fully grown, from his head.

I love dark humor. I discovered it at the early age of 9 when I read Catch-22 for the first time. Ahh, the loss of innocence...
