And won't you know it, I now have Mono. I took today off and am taking tomorrow off as well. Going to have to reassess tomorrow night and pray to the good Dude above to make a miracle happen.

Does anyone have experience with this at your programs and how did it turn out? If I can make it, should I suck it up and get my work done?

I fear that it's going to set back my training. As far as I know, I can only miss so many days in a rotation until I have to repeat it.

Gulp.

Ha, I wish. I felt it coming on last week and decided to suck it up until the weekend, when I could rest up. I woke up Saturday and knew it was the real deal. Sunday it was worse.

I would rather be pumping out 80 hour weeks in the STICU than dealing with this. No question. From my short stent with it, mono is basically the flu on (anabolic) steroids.

Do you have a true diagnosis, DOCUMENT IT. Someone is going to try to screw you. This doesnt go away with a good nights rest and some gatoraid

I went to the doc yesterday and he ordered the Monospot test. Terrible thing is that it won't be back for a week. But yes, I will get the results. I can't see any reason why this isn't mono though. Don't know too many illnesses that cause extended periods of fever, tender lymphadenopathy, sore throat, swollen tonsils, and intense malaise.

Yeah, I talked to our academic coordinator. Apparently, it's our PD's call on where I go from here...Wish me luck!

Maybe you can take an entire month off and continue late. You can't learn if you're barely functional at work. People don't finish on time all the time. Don't sweat it. (Pun intended.)
