Looks like UCSD class of 2007 will be busy for a while!!!

Stupidbarbarian, yipes, classes at 8 am in the morning?! Looks like the Associate Dean at UCSD is ambitious and meant it when he said that he wanted to make your school the #1 pharmacy school in the nation. Well, before that can happen, I will have graduated from SOP at UCSF, but here's a gander at our fall quarter schedule, which includes our core classes--biopharmaceutics, biostatistics, pharmacy practice, and of course, physical chemistry--and some electives:

USC
PHRD 501 Pharmaceutics I
PHRD 503 Biological Systems I
PHRD 505 Molecular Genetics & Therapy
PHRD 507 Health Care Delivery Systems

Classes are from 8 am to noon, not including pharmacy practice and experience. I will start my clerkship at LAC-USC Hospital this Fall.

NDSU 4th year:

Hang in there, guys. The end is in sight. 😀

Echo MNaloxone. Hey MNaloxone, is the law in ND still such that only the pharmacist-in-charge may own a pharmacy (execept for that Osco)?

lord:

Yes, that's still the law-almost. I believe that a pharmacy must be owned by a RPh, or if a corp, at least 51% owned by pharmacists. The RPh involved is not necessarily the in-charge (but most likely is). What a crock.

I understand that the purpose of the law is to protect the independent, but let's get real-you and I will never see a CVS or a Wags in the mighty hamlet of Wishek, ND. Osco and Thrifty White were grandfathered in. Methinks that maybe an attempt to keep wages down is partially to blame (not that it matters-NDSU hemmorages PharmD's back to Minneapolis anyway, including this guy eventually). I know that $$$ isn't everything, but $95K in Mpls, or half of that in Emptyville, ND? (Although you could probably own Emptyville for $60K...) No wonder ND was the pioneer in Telepharmacy. Ick.

There is a Wags in Fargo-but it has no pharmacy. Imagine my surprise after growing up in Minneapolis, and walking around the store looknig for the RX drop-off window...

I will post mine after few weeks.

badxmojo I heard through the grapevine that physical chemistry is hard, it is a chemistry with a little bit of calculus concept. But then again you guys are smarter than the average so it is going to be a piece of cake. So far your curriculum seem to be the hardest... I haven't checked the ones with links because I am too lazy.

I was a chem major at UCSD and took two quarters of p-chem. Let me tell you, it is hard. It is all the best of chemistry, physics, and calculus all wrapped up into one fun-lovin' course. I think the p-chem in pharm school will be p-chem 'lite'. Let us all hope.

I heard pchem in pharm school is different. Less theory and less deriving equation. They focus more on the application of the formulas, how to use it in a given problem and situation. More number crunching. If you had pchem before in college, then u should do okay in the pchem in pharm school. Pchem, like other difficult subject, often is dependent on the professor who teaches it. If you have a professor from hell, then the class will be hell, if u have an easy professor, then u will do well in it. But regardless, prepare to use ur scientific calculator a lot.

Quantum Mechanics part of pchem was the most difficult course I ever took in my life!!!!!!!

thanks for the vote of confidence tcb..but yeah i thinks its going to be tough..my big sister that was assigned to me warned me about pchem and bio chem.. they told us to get tutors for pchem (the profesors)

Calculations is an anachronism. It's taught with P'ceutics though exams are separate.

I though that 'ceutics looked a little long.

I'm not exactly sure, but check your pm. 🙂
