FSU finally called me back. According to her, the problem is that they have to scan our letters into their system and somehow my letters were not. SO she said that by next week I should be complete.
After that they will call for interview.

About USF, the website is the same as the second app website, but dont look at that because they dont update it. My file is complete and the website says otherwise.

Hey all, I got my interview invite from UM today too. Now i just gotta figure out when to go. I'm thinking the friday before my USF interview, that way I can capitalize on gas usage. We'll see. Thats pretty awesome 1swtwrld. I just need fsu's and I can be in your boat. just curious, u a DMB fan? On another note, univ. of s. carolina was kind enough to send me my application complete letter and my rejection letter the same day. That was nice of them.

I actually dont have the foggiest what is over by Jackson. It's kind of in its own neighborhood, which is not a massive tourist attraction. But, it's *extremely* close to the airport, around which there are any number of hotels, which are probably all pretty cheap.

That, I realize is an embarassing level of knowledge for someone who lives in miami. Although I guess I dont have much reason to stay in hotels...

I actually just called UF to check on mine, and they were very cool. And then I called the head of admissions by her first name by accident. Dammit!

I agree with caveman, anything close to Jackson will be close to the airport, before you get any reservation you can pm me the location and i can tell if it is close or not. around jackson per say, the neighborhood is not that good, so you want to check before you go.

Both schools will email you when your file is complete. If you have sent in all of your paperwork more than three weeks ago, and you have not received a "complete" email yet, you should probably either call or email them to find out what they are still missing. If you're wondering about getting an interview, they will call you to invite you, and then follow up the call with an email.

He usually gets back to emails to his hsc email address as well as to Private messages on SDN quite promptly, sometimes that day itself. So I'd go ahead and see what he says.

Thanks 🙂. I did know that he posts on here, but I just didn't want to bug him. I figured I'd ask other applicants what their experience has been so far first, and then ask him or call the admissions office after that if I still have a question.

Hmmmm USF does not keep a status page in the way that Miami does, but they will notify you personally via a phone call if you get invited for an interview. I'd just hang in there and hold on. Mr. Larkin posted on here that they had the interview invites for up to the 3rd of October, but will be calling again soon, for interviews for the weeks after that.

From my understanding, USF continues to review the apps all season, so even if you don't get an invite this week, you might get one next week, or the week after, and so on, until they finish interviewing.

That's the way I remember it. You're application will stay on hold until the very end of the year. Now, for the sake of the adcom's sanity, please don't call them to ask if you'll get an interview.

Do you guys know if the biochem. requirement has to be completed before applying vs before marticulation? 😕 Seems like a silly question, but it appears to be "before applying" on the website. I haven't taken advanced biochem. yet.

I was complete at Miami in early August, complete at USF last week (the residency forms were holding me up a little because my parents had to fill them out).

To those who've heard from UF, how long was it between when you were complete and when you got a response?

I was complete the 12th of august and got a phone call the 29th of august. I'll be interviewing next friday. I was complete at usf the 16th of august and got the call the 30th of august

In regards to UM, has anyone tried to schedule their interview? I got the email and called the number on the email, but no one has answered it and its not an official voice mail or anything, it just sounds like a regular voice mail. I left a message, but it just didnt seem right so I emailed them a lil while ago to make sure. Anyone tried ?

To all those who are interview today at UF I hope you all did great and let us know as soon as you can how it went!

I interviewed today at UF......It was really relaxed although it was a LONG day 😴 . All of the facultuy were amazing and the students seemed to really enjoy it. Sucky thing is they put a lot of the applicants on a "hold" list that is not reveiewed untill April. So many of the interviewees will not even know their status for a while. Overall it was a very Stress Free day and I loved the school. Also on SDN interview feedback there is some mention of a good cop / bad cop interview but this did not happen to any of us. The consensus was all of the interviewers were very easy to get along with and plesant.

I am an M1 at FSUCOM and we had to have the biochem requirement complete prior to matriculation, not application.

I also interviewed at UF today. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and actually bumped the school up several places on my list. I can definitely see myself going there next year. The students all seem to love the school, the faculty is very enthusiastic, and the interviews were laid back. Very conversational, and everyone goes out of their way to make you comfortable. The day is long though, starting at 9:15 and not finished until 5:30.

When my friend interviewed last year, she said her two best experiences were in her Tufts interview and her UF interview. She's an MS1 at UF COM now. Another MS1 at UF COM said that UF COM had become one of her top choices as well, and had a great interview experience there.

They both said that the students seemed to be really happy. That's how it seemed too, when the UF COM MS4's came last year to talk at the USF Premed Forum on med school admissions. The students who came were pretty funny as well.
