Sorry. In return for sticking it to "The Man" all week by spending the large majority of my billable hours on SDN, The Man sent me to a one hour meeting that was four hours away. All day I was wondering what was going on on SDN without me. I was thinking about my gold plated stethoscope, Guju misspelling things, people clamoring nationwide to get into FSU... Then I stopped at a farm stand and picked up some apples and thought "I wonder if Mr. Burns is doing the exact same thing."

I can't believe Roethlisberger posts on SDN. That's awesome.

Hey any of you accepted to Miami fill out the scholarship form? How did you approach that? If you did fill it out yet, hear nething back yet?
 
I was wondering about how to approach this too. What, exactly are they asking? How diverse, needful and otherwise deserving I am? Is there a follow up to just that page, or is that it?
Someone at UM told me that they received a scholarship discussing how "interesting" they were. I'm not that interesting, but I could fake it in an essay. Where do I do that?

You, not diverse? Who else is of the neanderthal era, been frozen in a block of ice for X amount of years, only to get unfrozen, perform decent comedy on SNL, post on SDN, and then go to medical school? That's pretty impressive if you ask me.

I wonder what race you would be considered?

Can anyone tell me how long the FSU interview will last? The woman I spoke with said it'd take up the whole day even though it seemed like there were only a few things to do there.
 
It starts later than most interviews, at about 11, 11:30, and it depends when it ends. They do interviews different times in the afternoon, so you could be out as early as 3, 3:30 or as late as 4:30, 5, depending on what time slot they give you.

Has any been accepted off the UF hold list this go around yet? Is it still to early? I am just wondering how to go about this (when to send updates, more letters of rec, etc)

I would kill to be in your shoes right now bored or not! 😀

Anyway, I spoke to someone in the UM office today and they told me that everyone who receives a secondary and has met the cut offs gets placed on the ranked list so there's no post-secondary rejections. Talk about bursting my little bubble.
 
I'm starting to lose hope for Miami. I think it's been a whole two days since I checked my status. 🙂

I've been 'ranked' for several lifetimes . . .
 
Anybody get off the "hold" list for UF. I am wondering when they send out the next batch of acceptances...

Don't worry, I was complete september 9 and was on the ranked list on sept. 18. I did not hear from them until nov. 2. They called me to interview that same friday 11/4.

Umm, so I just got an e-mail from Dr. Hinkley saying that the Scholarship Committee at Miami just met and has decided to give me a partial tuition scholarship. I haven't applied for any scholarships. I guess the form isn't necessary after all? What in the world? I'm so confused.
 
Jury is out on Pitt- I still like Miami better. I'm guessing I would be an idiot to turn it down if I got in though. I like Pittsburgh the city though. For some reason, during the WISER center tour, which is the second funniest thing in Pittsburgh (nice gnarly amputee dummy), I decided to remember the first funniest thing in Pittsburgh- when Randall Simon from the Pirates knocked that woman dressed as the Italian Sausage on the noggin while she was running the bases at that Brewers game. Why did I have to think of that right then? I had to pretend to start coughing. Even the animatronic amputee knew what was up. Terrible.

Hahaha, oh man. A classic moment in sports. She had to get treated by First Aid and he was charged with misdemeanor assault and fined something like $450. Personally, I woulda gone for the bratwurst.

What do you like better about Miami (besides the weather)? I think my best whole interview day was at Miami, although there are things about all schools that I liked and disliked. I really liked Pitt, though...whether or not they like me, however, is still in question. I was just at Emory and the 80 degree November is something I can dig. And the Braves.

Face it, caveman...no matter where we go to school, Destiny is going to make us be roommates.

Unless Dr. Hinkley likes to get on his e-mail and mess* with the hearts of many an applicant, I think it's real. At least he said I should be getting it in writing soon...but I'm still really confused. Maybe it really is just some evil computer virus. This is yet another reminder that I really should be using protection.

Yeah, I don't have good reasons for my ridiculous Miami bias, but the weather isn't a huge one. I think I had really high expectations for Pitt, and thought it would have no negatives. It was still really cool though. It will become more clear when Pitt rejects me and tells me that dummies in labor are no laughing matter, and to grow up. Or, Hinkley jumps out of a bush and throws a bag of cash at me. Whichever comes first.

Still, we could live in a gigantic mansion in Pittsburgh. $200 in rent a month. Is that a joke?

I think dummies in labor is definitely a laughing matter...unless the baby is a stillborn or, even worse, real. Wouldn't that be freaky if you think you're delivering a sim baby but then you realize it's really alive?

I just realized I need to get more sleep.

Count me in for the gigantic mansion...we'll throw keggers for the admissions office if they actually decide to accept us (ok, even if they don't...I mean, come on, it's a kegger). I'll even let you have the title of "that girl". You know, the one who doesn't know her alcohol tolerance and so she drinks too much and ends up taking off her shirt, dancing on tables, making out with the pizza delivery boy and then afterwards pretends she wouldn't have done it sober. I know your kind...

hey guys, i spoke to dr.hinkley. heres what he wanted me to tell those of you with august '05 mcat scores who had questions about when you would be extended interview invites and whether florida residents would be seen before out of staters:

It may take another week or two to get to those with 8/5 MCAT scores. We are currently planning our spring schedule (Jan-Apr) and will invite those whom the committee feel most qualified, regardless of their state of residence.

The chance to finally be "that girl" is half my reason for going to medical school, and definitely all the impetus to go to UF. Too bad for you, there is only one distinction worse than being "that girl". Being "that girl's friend". Sucker...
