Groupies put out. I'm game.McMD said:Can we rename this thread? Seriously. I'm sure people will agree that it should be ' T ï d ë ...then we can also get groupies and maybe a tour bus.
Groupies ESPECIALLY put out ON the tour bus!!MrBurns10 said:Groupies put out. I'm game.

Thanks Runner.RunnerMD said:Don't worry, we won't say anything to your fiance. What happens on the bus, stays on the bus 😉
RunnerMD said:Mc - Do you know if we have to sumbit our withdrawal to FSU via snail mail? Or can we send them an e-mail?
McMD said:I THINK that all withdrawals (post acceptance) have to be a formal snail mail letter...that's what I did for FSU. So is it between UM and USF now for you?
100%! My fiance is getting recruiting duty in Miami now...there's a waitlist for it, but he's getting to bypass the waitlist...so even IF I wanted to consider another school, we would be faced with the possibility of being separated for another 4 years!! That is also the reason I'm trying to transfer from the Boca campus to the Miami campus, otherwise he'll be in Miami and I'll be in Boca. And to confuse you MORE...he'll be overseas during my first whole year of school...so I'll have that entire year to dedicate to 'T ï d ë!!...2nd year and on he'll be in Miami. God...you gotta love the military lifestyle...at least I'll get benefits during med school!! 🙂RunnerMD said:Yeah--well, if I get accepted to USF. What about you? Are you 100% UM?
Burnsie - I heard a funny quote over the weekend that reminded me of your signature quote. The topic at hand was health care reform and how politicians approach the issue:
"Democrats want to "feel" your pain."
"Moderates, well they're not ready to feel your pain, but they will share it."
"Republicans, they just like to deny the pain."
"Myself? I'm a physician, I just want to eliminate the pain."
haha wow, I'm really sorry to hear that.McMD said:By the way Burns...my fiance's rebuttle for EVERYTHING now is "why do you hate freedom?"...taken from your Q/A.
No I won't be able to see him...He'll be on a boat waiting for someone to jump overboard (so he can save them). He's going to Iraq, but then leaving and going around the world..so it will be fun for him. I'm "glad" that he'll be away for the first year cuz then I can study more....but I'm disappointed that I'll be meeting all new people and getting to know the city by myself. I'm sure I'll get the "Wow, you're married...where's your husband?" everytime I meet someone...but oh well, I'll get used to it! He left last year and it wasn't too bad, I just studied and partied more. (haha)MrBurns10 said:haha wow, I'm really sorry to hear that.
That really sucks about your soon-to-be-husband being away for the first year of your marriage. Are you going to get to see him at all? Don't worry...the members of Red Tide and our groupies will do our best to keep you entertained.
yrodri15 said:I'm all about the groupies - lets make a video, just like Kid Rock did.
I love you guys.
On another note, given 30 years to pay back loans (deferred post residency), how bad is it really? Should cost of med school, etc. really be THAT great of a factor - this is relevant for schools like UM. Chime in with your thoughts.
Well, I don't think you want to take 30 years to pay back school loans. You'll end up paying 83049803948x more than you otherwise would have. I think price matters up to a certain extent. If you're talking about a school that costs $11,000/yr vs. a school that costs $40,000 then yes, I think it definitely matters- assuming a) you'll be happy at both places and b) that the more expensive school doesn't give you a kick-ass financial aid package. I've talked to an anesthesiologist whose husband is a dermatologist (in other words, they're doing just fine financially) and she said that besides about 5 schools in the country, she said to go to whatever school is the cheapest. And she does residency interviews in anestesiology at a top medical center, so for her to say where you go really doesn't matter much is a pretty strong opinion. On the other hand, I don't think the difference between $20K/yr and $30K/yr is all that much in the long run considering you can probably pay off your loans in a single year if you are so inclined (unless you're in primary care). So, that's my opinion...take it for what it's worth (which is a lot, at least in my opinion. and you can take that for what it's worth. which is a lot, at least in my opinion, and so on).yrodri15 said:On another note, given 30 years to pay back loans (deferred post residency), how bad is it really? Ok well I've gotta go get my car fixed. When I was leaving my USF interview, my window started to slide, slide, slide, and then dropped to the bottom of the door panel...lol. At least this time I didn't have to go to my interviews with a scraped face and busted lip![]()

Yeah Dakota!! I'm glad you're leaning towards UM. Are you going to the open house on Saturday (probably not since you're OOS).Dakota said:A shout out to all the Miami people. I'm def. leaning pretty strongly towards Miami, what can I say, always wanted to be near the beach (and I like big hospitals, Bellevue, Grady, and LAC were all pretty impressive too).
Anyone who has McMD on facebook can add me, I'm her friend at UVA wearing the UVA baseball cap in my picture.
I just added you. I'm the one with the penguin as a head.Dakota said:A shout out to all the Miami people. I'm def. leaning pretty strongly towards Miami, what can I say, always wanted to be near the beach (and I like big hospitals, Bellevue, Grady, and LAC were all pretty impressive too).

frany584 said:Alright, I know Miami finishes interviewing April 17th, but when will they send out rejections, or post rejections on the status page? Do u think if I called the office they would give me any info? thanks 😀
yrodri15 said:Hey I am on Facebook: First name Yasser, Second name = Rodriguez.
Look me up.... I have the Scarface "Get the camera outta mah' face" look in my pic. Its quite Miami-Vice-ish.

RunnerMD said:Are you waitlisted or still waiting to hear back? If you're waitlisted, you'd probably stay on that until you were either offered an acceptance, or the cycle ended. I don't know if you would get a formal rejection.

For someone who has a very dirty sense of humor, those lyrics make perfect sense...yrodri15 said:i.e. those lyrics, translated, equate to: "Pull out the hose... wet the fire, a little bit.... pull out the hose... wet the fire."
Then she would "free-style" about sweet plantains and mojitos. Ah, sweet gibberish.
frootloop said:Miami doesn't finish interviewing on the 17th....incidentally I got an invite yesterday and chose April 17th, but later dates were offered. I think they interview through May and stop inviting in April!

Penguins stink. 🙄 You can't appreciate that from looking at pictures or movies of them, but you can smell their guano from miles away. Seriously.McMD said:Aww...Burnsie...Penguins are cute! I often dream of having a pet penguin, waddling beside me....holding my hand to cross the street..... 🙄
Man you really do take your penguins seriously, don't you? If I had a pet penguin (which I also dream about, McMD), I would just take showers with it. A little Pantene Pro-V would make that guano smell just disappear! And since I'm going to be showering with my pet sheep anyway, might as well bring in the penguin, too. He'll get used to the hot water.QofQuimica said:Penguins stink. 🙄 You can't appreciate that from looking at pictures or movies of them, but you can smell their guano from miles away. Seriously.
