For how many people is the decision of where to go dependent upon $$?

Is your decision based on how much it will cost to go to school there?

  • No, I am going to the school that "fits" me best despite how much it costs.

Okay, so I am still trying to decide where to go to vet school. At one school, I can get a house and essentially not have to worry about my cost of room and board but at another school, which is in the city, I will have to pay rent every month of the 4 years I live there.

However, I LOVED the school in the city. I'm from a very rural place and would probably never live in a city again after the 4 years of vet school. But is it worth the extra money? I do not have an in state school so where ever I go I will be OOS.

So, for how many of you is the decision dependent upon how much it will cost you to go there? You can factor in stuff like if you will buy a house and have cheaper costs that way or if you live with family/parents to cut costs, etc etc.

You need a middle ground option. I'm very reluctant about the school where I can't establish residency and will pay high OOS tuition every year. But because I have some options where I can establish residency (or just pay a more reasonably priced OOS tuition), I'm not sure I want to choose my cheapest (IS) option simply because it is the cheapest. So I'm a middle of the road kinda gal. 🙂 I don't know how to enter that into the survey, though!

😉 After I posted, I thought geez I should have put a couple more in there! I can't seem to alter the poll. Anyone know if I am able to?? 😀

Not the best solution, but maybe you could post a new one and we could all just let this one fade away? Don't know if that would work, though...it might be confusing and some folks might end up posting in one thread while others post in the other thread.

Maybe PAThbrd could help you alter the poll? I don't know if mods have the ability to do that or not...
