For those of you who had multiple interviews...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You tell them that you would absolutely love going to their school.

Why would you tell a school that they aren't your top choice at an interview? That's like going on a date and telling the person that they were your back up date for the night.. :uhno:

My number one at the time didn't ask me this question, but some others did. I basically said something like "It's hard for me to say where my top choice would be because I'm not sure about finances, but I have absolutely loved what I've seen so far at the school and could definitely see myself being happy there". If I were good at lying, I might have told each school they were my number one lol

This is honest yet diplomatic, a very powerful combination.

This is what I respond with (but this only works if you interview later in the day, after the tour/presentation): "Before I applied, I thought I knew what my top choice was based on internet research, but after my visitation and meeting the dental students, I firmly believe that [school] will go above and beyond helping me achieve my goal of becoming a well-rounded dentist. I got out more than I expected from [school] and would be tremendously happy as a student here."

I might be able to answer somewhat similar to this, I'm not too good with interviews/applications because I try so hard to be perfectly honest. I just have the problem that I have a definite number one choice, my only state school.
That's a good quality to have! Basically, beat around the bush so you don't have to lie. Compliment their school a lot and say you would be more than grateful for the opportunity to attend, etc

If you are asked that, talk about how impressed you are with their program and that you can really see yourself being a student here. I doubt they will press you anymore than that.

This is honestly a really unprofessional situation they put us in. What if we asked them "so...am I definitely in?" or "am I your top choice?".
