What happens if you forget to add a Community college on our AMCAS even if you only took one class?

Is there away med schools can track that down?

lol.

it's dishonest and don't take the risk regardless.

Are you in this predicament?

I didn't think so...

I like this "forget" to do things business.

They could check the national student loan clearinghouse to see where you've registered for loans. If you paid cash for classes then you're in luck.

Do not take this as an excuse to "forget", but no, it is unlikely that a med school would track that down. Schools will verify your degree and enrollment information indicated in your application, but they will not go on a fishing expedition. It is far too expensive.

That said, I should add as a disclaimer that this information should not in any way be construed as advice.

If the school also happens to be a student loan guarantor, then you're right.

Otherwise, well, not.

Take a look at your transcripts. Its probably on your most recent. My school just combined my previous work into one official transcript.

I'm in a similar boat...took a class (one class) at a CC back in 1997 and got a D. Re-took the same class (different CC) as I started my "real" college journey in 2006 and A'ced it. Now at 4-year state school and don't even have a C, and I never transferred the D from '97. By the time I apply to med-school, it will be close to 15 years since that D. But...I'm planning on going back to the original CC and seeing if they can somehow forgive it. I don't know - tough call - it they won't, I will probably just be honest about it. Would hate to be the statistical anomaly that keeps me from going to med school. Plus, I know I'd just worry about it all the time! 🙁 Good luck.

If you honestly forgot the course, you can amend your AMCAS application. If you left if off with the hope that you won't be discovered, you may end up being dismissed from your medical school or even having your degree invalidated once your omission has been discovered. No degree = no license to practice.

Your best course is to notify AMCAS that you forgot that one course, correct your mistake and then have them reverify you. We have caught more than a few applicants who deliberately "left off" a few courses with the thought that they couldn't be traced. Huge mistake!

Even if they forgive it, you still have to report it according to AMCAS rules. It sucks, I know, but you're better off being completely honest than being found out later.

FYI, there is another thread with a rather spirited discussion of the disclosure/nondisclosure of college coursework.

The title of the thread is "Not submitting CC coursework." Last post was yesterday.

if you got a high grade in the course and it didn't count toward any degree, you will have no issues self-reporting this. No school is going to rescind an acceptance over an AMCAS modification.
