I have been using SMI Adviser for a couple of years now for free CME credits. They are not the best and have a political bias, but I do not like paying for CME. However, they are losing funding and the website is shutting down in a few days. Can we share our sources of free CME so that we can all get this odious task done without having to spend money? Any type of free psychiatry CME (general, child and adolescent, forensic, geriatric) would be appreciated. Thanks all.

I just pay for UpToDate and milk it for as much CME as possible.

Or do what others do, pay for CME conferences and milk it for a vacation as business expense.

Or work a Big Box Shop job, and have them reimburse.

In my state for state licensing purposes anyway you can fulfill a lot of (not all) the required CME hours by documenting that you have read appropriate medical journals and done researched clinical topics. If you know how to locate scientific papers for free this only really requires you to keep some sort of record of what you are reading for how long and when in case you get audited.

bough a 1 month membership in mid dec through mid jan as i needed cme for license. Fulfilled 2 years worth of cme for state license via uptodate and 2 years for next license renewal in january. This is just via browsing it and looking stuff up.

Psych specific and for MOC I do need to look into that as i have to do 30 articles by EOY for that process but at least no more boards ever again.

I used to feel the same way about CME and would complete a lot of the free online ones, but I realized that I was able to complete it much faster if I purchased most of it. I still get a LITTLE free CME here or there from presenting in or attending CME programs. If you can find a grand rounds program with open attendance at an academic center, it can be a fun way to get free CME when the topics are interesting.

By my count, that's 436 separate psychiatry lectures, 97 of which offer AMA based CME for free.

You're welcome.
