Medical Knowledge Association (MKA) is for pre-med/med students/med professionals who are interested in learning more about medicine through live communication with people of similar fields in an application you can download on your computer and or on a smart phone (free). Members act as mentors, educators, and supporters for success in the medical field. We prepare students for MCATS, USMLE, and other medical standardized exams. Additionally, we provide feedback for applicants who are in need of preparing for interviews. People are separated into organized sections in pre-med, med students, interns, residents, and attendings. We keep up with the latest medical news, solve cases, and help those who are in need of a push to get to their medical goals. The Medical Discord Server is provided here: https://discord.gg/CYCvEdN . It is FREE.

2.) Why create this server? What makes this program different from others?(edited)

Growing up in a city with friends and family who are not interested in medicine, I always wanted a mentor who can help guide me into Medicine. While I did try to contact doctors or medical students for me to communicate with or to shadow, I couldn't get any good opportunities until I reached my undergraduate career in Ursinus College. Even while in college, I still believed it was still difficult to get the help and exposure I needed to be confident in my pathway. With MKA through discord, we have medical students and doctors who can give us personal advice and feedback throughout our journey. We can organize whether they are students in undergrad or in medical school based on color-coding and category on the right side of the program. Also, we can join a voice channel or a hashtag channel based on our needs. Skype, AIM, ovoo, and etc. are not as organized as discord is. I didn't want others to face confusions/difficulties as I did in the past, so these are the reasons why I created this server.

3.) What do we do on a casual basis?(edited)

We offer weekly MCAT jeopardy sessions, MCAT question of the day, USMLE question of the week, update on medical news and technology, update resources that can be provided, provide feedback on mock interviews, and offer personal advice. We tackle patient cases together, and we make sure that the server is in order. We also look out for other servers that are similar to us so we can try to merge with them.

5.) What is the Big Doctor Program?(edited)

This program works similarly to a big brother/sister mentorship. In this case, we will have each medical student assigned to a pre-medical student (must be an undergraduate student). This way, the medical student can aid the pre-med in any way they can to get him/her into medical school. As soon as the pre-med becomes a medical student, he/she will be assigned to a pre-med student. The medical student that already became a doctor will be continuing to guide their "little" medical student until he/she reached the MD/DO degree. It is up to the doctors if they want to mentor more than one medical student. The cycle goes on, and you will receive an honorary award for successfully getting your "little" into the rite of passage of medical school. The same applies for doctors entering their "little" to become a doctor.
