Hi! Iam a foreign trained dentist here in US on H4 visa and i do not have a cosigner for loan.I have been staying in virginia for last 2 years and was thinking of applying to VCU school of dentistry regular DDS program to take advantage of their 'in state tuition' facility. But i did not get clear reply from them whether they would consider H4 visa applicant for the program.Does anyone know if VCU has ever considered FTD who is neither permanent resident/citizen for their advanced standing /regular program?
Any input will be highly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
joy.

I am pretty sure .... in order to qualify for in state tuition you have to be a citizen or a permanent resident...you want to check this out for yourself.

Ur right, may be some schools have that condition but at VCU they say if you have been staying and paying taxes in virginia state for 2 years ,you can be eligible for 'in state' tuition.

Yes I know someone who was accepted for advanced standing program at VCUSD on student visa few years ago. They do accept people in regular program on student visa but ask for out of state tution. Of course you know about VCUSD policy about 2 years VA residency.

One other info. If your spouse is working in US for > 3 years and has a good credit history then he/she may be eligible for Sponsored Access Student Loan and can borrow upto the full cost of attendance.

Please go to Access group website and look for different types of student loans. It's very clear explained on their website.

I guess you need to take DAT as well as some pre requisites to join a regular DDS program . I thought of doing it when I was in Richmond but after finding this , I dropped the idea and joined a 2 yr program elsewhere.I dont know whether the things changed now or not. I am not sure whether they will take H4's or not.

Rahmed,Amdoct, thanks for ur replies,Finally i did get through VCU 's international office and they said that if i transfer to F1 visa then 'out of state'tuition applies. Also its true apart from DAT they expect us to complete mentioned pre requisites from accredited US university(not community college).Hence dropping the whole idea of going for regular program.
