Anybody sign their ISP contract yet?

The person responsible for special pay at the student Detachment for folks out for civilian training is ... *gasp* not responding to emails / voicemails. Gotta love crappy GS workers.

Are you referring to the December bonus that should be the October bonus? I don't even worry about my ISP until later November...about the time congress approves the budget.

Yes, the key is lower the expectation. I am stationed in a place where some physician did not get ASP paid yet.😱

I signed for ISP few weeks ago, but I am not holding my breath. (I got mine ASP in Aug) so there are delays here👎

And so the annual countdown to the .mil meeting its basic obligation to physicians begins.

And with it, my annual plug to remember to renegotiate bonuses after completing a fellowship so that you can avoid this whole mess.

or just finish your 4 year payback, forget about the ISP your last year, and get out.

Does this mean that after I finish my fellowship (provided I get picked up)...that I can negotiate my ISP when I graduate? How?

Wow, big surprises this year. The NAVADMIN is already out! You'll actually get paid in October. And the rates didn't change at all from last year! I figured there would be big decreases in MSP at a minimum.

Are you serious? Maybe last year's mess got them to work on smoothing things out a bit.

I signed my ISP contract yesterday. What seemed like a Christmas bonus may actually be a normal pay at a normal time in October!

It's still October! :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: deep breath :laugh::laugh::laugh:

😱

Well. That was unexpected. Guess I'll stop by my favorite HM3's office tomorrow ...

Straw #162 on the camel's back may be a little lighter this year.

Wait, has that ever happened? They would lower ASP/ISP/ or MSP from year to year? Oh, man, that would piss me off.

We're running $trillion federal deficits.

When it comes to low hanging fruit for the inevitable military cuts, I'd think that bonuses for doctors, >80% of whom are serving out obligated "scholarship" paybacks and can't leave anyway, will be looked at very carefully. The line hates every penny they grudgingly waste on stuff that doesn't fly, drive, orbit, submerge, sail, shoot, or explode.

If you know you're staying, it might be wise to consider locking in that MSP contract sooner rather than later.

I expect that there would be reduction for ISP, VSP, BCP etc as they are paid during obligated period of service. But these rates remained stagnant for many years so reduction would be unlikely. They serve as a financial baits for medical students. I imagine that MSP should not be affected as they provide monetary incentives to keep some military doctors to stay longer.

Pleaaaase elaborate on this. I'm finishing fellowship this year followed by a long commitment.

When you finish a fellowship, you can terminate and renegotiate your ISP. This moves your ISP date from Oct 1 to your fellowship grad date. I'm not positive this applies if your fellowship doesn't change your bonus. The forms for this are on the Navy special pay website (not sure how it works for other services).

The major benefit is that this syncs your bonuses with your obligation. So you can take the bonus your last year without sticking around an extra 3 months.

You get one chance to do this. Once you've signed up for an Oct bonus again, you don't get a second chance.

When you are on your European vacation during those three months, drink some Bitburger for me.

You should do it 60 days before fellowship grad.

I'm not sure about this in regards to ISP alone, but another way to sync your pays by retiming the start/end of ISP is to sign for an MSP. Theoretically you can do this any month of the year as long as you are eligible. Just don't do it during fellowship or payback for training as it would make your obligations consecutive.

ISP received yesterday! Woo hoo.

I signed ISP during middle of Sep, but I still have not receive it. I think the rate limiting step is GS worker at OTSG. Has anyone from U.S. Army (A-k) receive it?

Everyone in my clinic received theirs...I submitted mine a week before they did and have yet to receive it. The joys of 18-21 yo's being responsible for my pay! 👍

I'll give credit where credit's due, once the NAVADMIN is released, our local 18-21 year olds always get things done pronto. It was less than a week from the time I signed the paperwork until I got paid.

I'm Navy and it seems like they got stuff through fairly quickly. Not sure what's happening on the Army end of things.

Has anyone not received their ISP yet? I still have not received mine. It's really frustrating to sign the contract in September, and not get paid for several months. The folks at special pay branch isn't much help either. They do not respond to their emails nor phone messages. Can't stand these government civilians.

BTW, It took me 4months to get my DASP pay this year too.
Can't wait until my obligation is up.

Half of us on the Navy side haven't received our ISP yet. In classic civilian BUMED fail, there are two people assigned to special pay. One handles last names A-M and the other N-Z. Well the N-Z lady decided to quit and not tell anybody. She didn't submit any of our ISP requests from October. We had to resubmit our requests 2 weeks ago and I still haven't seen anything. All of my A-M friends got their bonus in October.

I'm on the N-Z list, I guess I got mine to her on time. Mine came in November.
