When Mercer called me to accept me, the guy that interviewed me called me as he was walking out of the admissions meeting. He said he dialed my number and hit send before he was out of the room.

Good luck to you all, hopefully you'll get in

congratulations dude! 👍

haiku for you:

another day passed.
another empty mail box.
asks why and eats pie.

Ok, I have one...

A mail truck's journey
It delivers a letter
Only it's not a f**** acceptances letter!!! 😡

I'm still working on it...

A watched mailbox
Refreshing your e-mail now
Never will news come

The sun will rise again tomorrow
Bringing with it new hope
Which will be crushed, stomped and pissed on by dusk.

a hundred more of these, and we can publish a book!

oh... is it 7-5-7?... thought it was 5-7-5 lol.

Funny stuff. but sad. oh well, over 42,000 people applied for 2007 only about 42% of them matriculated last year. Don't feel bad guys, your letters may still be coming. but then again, if it does not come, than at least you won't be alone 🙁

what up dawg? are you in college now? What is your history with the army? Are you planning to take HPSP?

yo wassup dawg, yep, i'm full time post-bac right now yo. I don't know about HPSP, I heard some real bad horror stories about it. I've been in the Army for the last 8 years.

I was pretty big on the whole weight lifting thing back in the day. I still do it, though not as hardcore, more just to be healthy. Normally if you get stuck, it's your routine that's holding you back. I would try to incorporate some new chest exercises and phase a few out for a while. Sometimes it's a mental block too, and you just gotta throw on some more weight and force you to get it up. lol, this can be kind of risky as you could hurt yourself pretty badly 😛

I did hit 315 once. About 4-5 months ago. I also weighed quite a bit then ( I think I was at 197). I have since started cutting, and am down to 185 and can lift nowhere near that much ( probably max out around 280). My goal would be to get to 175 and be able to do 300 lbs on the bench. Oh yea and advice on getting to 315- eat lots of carbs (the good ones i.e. whole grain rice, whole wheat bread etc.) Also do low rep sets. You'll be at 315 in no time.

low rep sets eh?... like 3 reps or so?

i've been doing 8 reps per set.

right now, my weight's about 212 haha.
need to shed 30 lbs or so of body fat,
then regain the weight back in muscle mass.

By low reps I mean 3-5 reps. Also a very common mistake that people make is that they don't give themselves enough time to heal. I would do major muscles (chest etc..) once a week. Also don't be afraid to switch up the routine. Try dumbbells for benching every third week or something like that. Also mix in some incline and the decline bench. If you want to lose fat I can tell you what I am doing right now which is very effective, but requires a lot of will power(bye bye taco bell).

March is here, for better or worse.

Isn't MCG required to fill up their classes by March 15th?

I'm not sure, but aren't we suppose to receive notification by april 1?

Anyone know of any relevant dates for mercer news either? Beisdes every other wednesday of course...

never heard that. March 15 is the day that schools are notified of students retaining multiple acceptances. It is also the day we start to get all the financial stuff and preregistration stuff. (those of us who have narrowed down to 1 school or only ever got 1)

From what I have read over the years, both schools stop interviewing in mid-late March. After that, they try to get all of their initial acceptance letters out by April 1st. If you go back and look at the threads for the last few years, students were still getting their acceptance letters ~April 15th from both schools. At the same time, people were getting waitlisted.

I got waitlisted at Mercer on April 4th (snail mail) and April 27th (snail mail) at MCG. That MCG waitlist was two weeks late due to some "flu" breakout in the admissions office in March that pushed their dates back ~2 weeks.

Only 30 more days or so until the first wave of mass-acceptances go out.

Good luck!

Hey fahimaz! Thanks for that helpful info. Do you rmr when you interviewed last yr? Did it take months for both schools to get back to you?? I'm going on 2.5 months of silence post interview...

For 2007, I interviewed at MCG ~October 20th and then at Mercer ~November 7th.

Fort 2008, I interviewed at both MCG and Mercer in Feb. once my applications were finally completed in December (had to do some extra paperwork for in-state residency).

From my understanding, you get ranked by both of your interviewers and then, based on that ranking, your folder gets futher examined by the rest of the committee. Then, after that, there's a final ranking/vote on your folder that establishes your competativeness.

So, if you do well in your interviews, but your stats are not that great, you might be waitlisted still by the committee. Or, lets say you have great stats and a decent interview, you might not be presented to the committee until March b/c you get ranked behind other folders by your interviewer.

That's my theory atleast.

drag! Hate to hear about the delays. Good luck- I am sure if you were WL at both places lastyear you will get in somewhere this time.

Hello again~
thanks to all that wished me luck on my interview 🙂
i think it went pretty well, but one of my interviewers (the one that's on the ad com) kinda hinted that most spots are filled and that there's a greater chance of me getting on the alternate list...or at least that's what i got from it. so i don't know, cuz i just read another post that said there are still a lot of spots left.

I heard that if you get waitlisted in the beginning of April, you will most likely be accepted. But, I guess that's not always true.

Good luck everyone!

Nope. I think that my interviews went well so I'm hoping to hear back by the end of this month with some good news!

I think it is very difficult to know for sure. Of course, feeling that you did well is a good sign, but I always had mixed feelings. For example, one of my MCG interviewers was a hard***, and I stumbled over a few questions. But I think that I did rather well considering the difficulty of the questions. My other interviewer was very quiet and he let me direct the conversation. I can't imagine any but the worst speakers having a hard time with him. Any thoughts?

Started the 2012 MCG thread *crosses fingers* in the Allo Class Thread forum.

I subscribed to the MCG 2012 facebook group today, and they have all of TWO discussion posts. Lame. And out of 50 members, all but 5 are from UGA. (what have I done? jk)

Did your interviewers say anything about how they viewed you? Both of mine said they would recommend me and one of them, at MCG said they better get me before Mercer can. He new I was headed to a Mercer interview shortly after then MCG one.

I'm hoping that's a good sign this year. Last year I didn't get told that at either place. Both schools told me that this year.

Is this for Mercer? Who then have schools been accepting up until now (The best of the best, you two characters...are going to Top Gun)?

Again, is this for Mercer? Only asking because my stats suck (UG 3.0, 27, MPH 3.7) but my interviewers both liked me, a lot. And I heard that my file hadn't been brought up yet, so I am trying to approximate when I might hear.

I'm in a bad position, w/ a fiance who wants to move to Macon and buy a house during the housing slump...

Thanks for the input, fahimaz

Well I guess there's no two ways about that! No, my interviewerers didn't come out and say that I did well or I did poorly.

hey fahimaz, Cancer Immunology? Holy crap, dude! What topic specifically?

From what I have read, I think that both schools (especially MCG) tend to send out a big wave of acceptances at the end of March. This correlates to the last interview session and is the result of the meetings at which the committee must rank the entire interview list for acceptances, waitlists, and rejections.

🙂

Innate Immunity and Pattern-Recognition Receptors and how these can control tumor growth.

Did Polynikes ever hear from MCG? I think he/she interviewed in November. Polynikes has been complete at MCG since the early 1980's- I kind of feel bad since I wasn't complete at MCG until mid-October.

Hey dd128, didn't you apply to half-a-dozen Texas schools too? And didn't you get interviews there? No news from them either?

LOL

I interviewed at MCG several weeks ago.

I was complete a long, long, long time before I ever heard anything from them though.

I was told that I would hear from MCG before the end of April.
