Financially his entire tale doesnt make sense: Smoller was a full professor at Stanford preceding what would be one of the greatest real estate booms in American history. Just sitting there and pushing glass, he could have passively made 20x on his money from RE alone.

Forget academia, forget departmental drama, forget all that. He was ground zero in Palo Alto in the 90s. And he went to Arkansas....

Smoller is married to the historian Laura Ackerman Smoller, Ph.D., of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, whose father, George Ackerman, M.D., is professor emeritus in the UAMS College of Medicine.
