Gastric carcinoma - local/distant metastasis?

Hey,

FA says that gastric adenocarcinoma is early aggressive and that local spread happens to nodes/liver. Pathoma however says "distant metastasis to liver". How is the liver distant relative to the stomach? FA says local which makes more sense.
