Hello Everyone,
I will be graduating in the spring, and plan on taking biochem II (needed for biochem major), human physiology, and cognitive psych. I am thinking about adding another biology class to help bring up my sGPA, and have been considering genetics as it is a five credit course at my school.
This unfortunately means it is an crap ton of work, requiring me to be in the lab every 8 or 12 hours to count fruit flies, which I am told amounts to about 2 hours of work every time as you begin to near the end of the semester. My question is, kind people of sdn, is the sGPA boost (the tests are apparently extremely easy, the lab is what sucks) worth the time I will have taken away from studying for my other classes/the MCAT I am taking in May, as well as the commitments of my clinical and volunteer hours, undergrad research, and my tutoring job?
I'm leaning towards not taking it and focusing on the MCAT, or perhaps substituting in another upper level bio course, though the only classes that would work with my class schedule next semester are microbio (which I'm told is impossible), evolution, and developmental bio. I have already taken molecular, cell, anatomy, pchem, analytical chem, calc 1-3, and stats. I would have liked to take immunology, pharmacology, or cancer bio but they are not offered in the spring
Thanks for any help/advice!
