I just got mine. Is anyone gonna stay at the hotel they recommended? $119...pricey. 🙁

hey finn, I got one too, but I'm gonna have to reschedule mine. I'm not staying at their hotel-pricey is right! I'm fortunate enough to be close enough to take the train down EARRRRRLY morning and back at night.

Hey - got one too. I guess they don't have student hosts ...

when did you guys who got the interviews turn in your app to GW?

i turned my secondaries in about this time in july

I got an interview too. It's my first interview and I am really excited. When is yours? Mine is September 11.

My application was complete around August 8. Anyway, I live near DC so I think I am going to take the Metro to GW. There's a metro stop right at GW.

congrats on the interviews! for those of you who have gotten the interview invites, can you post your stats (mcat, gpa, etc)? also, when were ur applications complete there? thanks!

Hey. I got my invite today for September 16th. I'm flying out from CA, but I'll be staying with a friend in the area. Since I'm applying MSTP (and there's relatively few of us), I'd rather not post my stats, but anyone can pm me if interested. Good luck everyone. 🙂

I go to school in DC. Take jetBlue from long beach to washington dulles. You can take the washington flyer to the DC Metro, which the goes directly to georgetown. Its also a lot cheaper.

You can fly into Dulles (IAD) or Reagan (DCA)
baltimore (BWI) is a little further north than you'd like.

How did they notify you guys about the interview?

transportation: i'm flying jet blue, in from oakland...they have the best hours and schedules for my needs.

hotel: i almost booked at the allen lee hotel. haha. i read the reviews...hotel from hell. literally...wow...🙂 don't book there although it's only a block from the school...mebbe i'll just splurge the 120 for the hotel.

my stats: gpa 3.6, mcat 34

For half that i'll let you sleep on my couch, five stops away on the metro 😛

How far would the Baltimore airport be from GW? I'm searching for tickets right now and flying into BWI would save me over a hundred dollars .... I would like to save the money, if the trip to GW is not too complicated. Please help!

Dara,

I live in Baltimore, not DC..so if any of you DCers have more advice chime in...

If you fly into BWI you can take the MARC train directly from the airport (actually there is a shuttle bus from ground transportation that 1st takes you to the MARC station but it's only 5min) to Union Station in DC...then you use the Metro to get to GW. The MARC is really fast and you should be in DC in no longer than 45 min. Look up the schedule online.

Hope this helps
Greenie

do you guys know how far the metro station is from regan international? are there free shuttles connecting both?

I GOT MY INVITE TODAY, FIRST INTERVIEW....

So is anyone here from CA? Anyone else on a tight budget?

What's the cheapest hotel people have found? Cheapest plane from SF or Oakland?

This is my first interview (it was also the first secondary I turned back in, and my file was complete Aug 11 or 12). I'm from Alabama but luckily don't have to shell out $119 for their hotel because my dad lives in Northern Virginia. I'm flying Southwest into BWI very cheap.

Stats: GPA 3.8, MCAT 34

It's pretty cheap. Takes about an hour from BWI to DC by car, not sure on this Washington Flyer shuttle (probably multiple stops along the way.)

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but would a cheap hotel like the Allen Lee Hotel have an iron for my suit?

74 bucks is cheap!

Before I buy my ticket,

going from SFO to IAD (which is Dulles I think), how easy is it to get to the GW area from the airport? is the metro right there?

I went to GW undergrad and we whenever we would pass the Allen Lee we would wonder if a murder was taking place. It looks really weird from the outside, but maybe the inside is nice?

well, it sounds like the best deal anyway.... after living right off Telegraph in Berkeley I'm sure I can take it....

they said they have an iron at the front desk so what else do i need really besides a bed and shower.

IAD is dulles. youll need to take the Washington Flyer for 7 bucks to the metro yellow line which goes directly to GWU/foggy bottom. What date is yours btw?

9/18 Yeah, I'm still look at flights, so there's no advantage to picking National over Dulles with this shuttle to the metro right?

Dulles seems to have better times and prices for me....

Hey me too, guess ill meet you there!

or lets meet up the night before, and get trashed. 😀

well going into DCA will save you 7 bucks on washington flyer fare 😛

Ugh, well it seems that everything is about 303.00 bucks for either airport.... but the times are horribly inconvenient for taking the BART to the SF airport, I"ll have to figure this out tonight....

OK so one more question, if my interview is at 10:15am, can i catch a flight leaving IAD at 5:20pm?

there is a metro stop right at reagan international airport. foggy bottom/gw is only a few stops away

hmm, no student hosting at GW? i forgot about that.......maybe this is one of those opportunities for those DC area SDNers to show some goodwill towards their fellow applicants 😀

the tour was the last thing during my interview day last year, and it ended around 3pm last year. you should be able to make it to dulles in enough time if you head out immediately after the interview, and if you're worried about it you can always cut out of the tour a little early

how was the interview like? was it pretty relaxed? thanks

I thought it was one of the most chill interview days i had. they do "blind" interviews there (the interviewers dont look at your application file beforehand) and they were both really conversational and no stress. One is with a student and the other is with a faculty (i had the dean of admissions), and both were really just "getting to know you" interviews 😎

i'm thinking of staying at a hotel (days inn...or any that has a shuttle to the airport/metro) near dca so that i could just hop the blue line in morning and go straight to gw. for dc snders, is that a good plan?

When were all of your applications complete at GW and when did they offer you an interview? Good luck everyone!

did ya'll include a photo with your secondaries?

I did. For those of you who included a photo with your secondary, are you bringing an additional one with you to the interview? Are we supposed to?

anyone willing to split the costs of a hotel room for a night on sept 17th at the georgetown holiday inn? with two double beds i believe that brings the cost down to about ~65

male college student from bay area.

Hi fellow GW interviewees,

I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Georgetown (what they recommended) on Sept. 11. Apparently, if you fly into DCA, you can get on the metro and go to the foggy bottom metro stop, and then the hotel can pick you up from there. It seems quite convenient. 🙂 Anyways, hope to see some SDNers there!

I'm nervous already!

Actually, they do have student hosts. I gave my email when i called to schedule my interview but the student in charge of the hosting program has not gotten back to me yet (that was a week ago).😱

Did anyone who interviewed in early September not hear back from GW yet? I've been out for the past week, so my mail was on hold at the post office and I've been getting it back in snippets... I don't know if I just didn't get any correspondence from GW or if I'll just get something soon in the mail.

Hey Lux -

I interviewed at GW on their first interview day and I haven't heard anything yet. Granted, I live several states away, but the mail shouldn't be that slow...
