Georgetown GEMS 2024-2025

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know the MCAT minimum. I know the site says they aim for 500 but the statistics for the current class say 499?

I saw through last year thread that interviews were sent the 3rd week of April last cycle

Anyone else interviewing on the 6th and 7th? Best of luck!

Congrats to all those accepted so far (or maybe they already sent all the acceptances out?)! Who is definitely matriculating? I think I am going to commit, so let me know if you will also be going 🙂 (feel free to reply here or DM me!)

I just wanted to leave this here for anyone thinking of this program in the future or any GEMS in the future who miss the grade cut offs but still have to finish out the program and wonder what is in store for them post program. You get zero help or even a conversation if you are not admitted into GUSOM and your best option is to apply to schools during GEMS because your grades will be marked as C’s if you are not admitted to GUSOM and secondly there won’t be an alternative plan discussion or anything else for that matter. Just wanted to share since it was such a false narrative that they cared beyond GUSOM but that’s a load of bull which is fine but I believe that information should have been disclosed from the beginning.

How did you like the program?

Hi everyone! I wanted to offer a different perspective as someone who also completed the GEMS program. I don't think it's entirely accurate to say that the GEMS admin "offers zero help" if you don't meet the grade cutoffs. Unfortunately, I didn't make the grade cutoff, but I received a lot of support in planning for my future beyond the program. You do have to be open to feedback, but there are definitely people in your corner who support you. I think it's important not to discourage future GEMS by portraying the program as transactional or dismissive because, in my experience, the program offers support regardless of the outcome.

Yes, the program is tough, and the pathway is, for the most part, GUSOM-focused; however, I wouldn't want anyone interested in applying to think they'll be left entirely in the dark if things don't go as planned. That wasn't my experience at all.

I wish everyone the best; I'm open to answering any questions, as these kinds of conversations help future GEMS prepare with clearer expectations.
