I'm currently taking 4 courses at a community college for a total of 18 units. I'm taking precal, molecular biology, general chemistry and a English class. I think I bit off more than I can chew and I'm concerned that at this rate my A's in bio and precal are going to turn into B's and that i'll be getting a C for English (or worse). How bad would a "W" in precal look to pharmacy schools? Is this going to seriously kill my chances of getting accepted? I don't want to look like a quitter but I don't want my GPA to suffer.

In my opinion, it's better to have a W than a C if you want to maintain a high GPA. I personally had a W in Basic Stats at CC and retook with a B. I am having two interview invitations so far and still waiting for others. However, my advice is, plan to take class wisely and avoid withdraw as much as you can.

Had 1 W. Do not fret over it.
- 8 interview offers (UMinnesota, Washington State to name a couple)
- 1 acceptance so far

I had a W in physics 1, and I've been accepted to the first school I interviewed at! Don't worry. 🙂

These classes combine together are quite some easy classes, to me at least. Remember A is not always the best. Just study day and night and on weekend too. I am sure u'll pull to a B, it's not even half a semester yet. Show the pharmacy schools that u can handle 18 credits at one time. AND u don't have to waste ur money to retaking the class.

Being a quitter is definitely not good, but I think it takes a degree of maturity to know when to cut your losses. I had to withdraw twice during undergrad. One of them I retook and earned an A. I couldn't handle all my work for the second; I was taking Calc II during a semester where I took a physics lecture/lab, an upper level lab, my senior research project, and a graduate neurosci class. It was my last semester and I was disappointed I couldn't retake but had I not done that, my other coursework would have suffered. I also would have gone insane (time spent on labwork was especially demanding).

I agree this is an easy schedule. You drop a class from this and you aren't showing much by finishing the semester good.

What type of university did you attend?

Do I have to give the address and my home address too?

That made me laugh:laugh: I do not understand where the need to be sarcastic is exactly coming from. My question is a basic question that float around these forums so please do not waste my time by being rude.

It is possible that the level of difficulty vary amongst universities/colleges so let us not jump to the immediate conclusion that these can be classified as "easy" classes. If I recall correctly you have a stellar GPA, but it did not transfer over to your PCAT scores and according to you both General Chemistry/Molecular Biology are "easy" classes? Everyone on this forum has a different situation and telling someone to study 24/7 is not a feasible solution so you need to be understanding of that. Do not expect a further response besides this.

Ur calling me rude? when u asked me a question, what type of school I come from? so u means the school I come from is easy that's why I said these classes are easy? Even slow person could tell what u meant by that question. NO SCHOOLs are EASY sir or mam. Is that degrading people or the school when u just suspected that I came from an easy school to get a stellar GPA? I WORKED my ASS off during working full time/ schooling full-time to get the good GPA sir/mam. U have to work hard for it. I rarely passed my first exam and guess what? I didn't give up, I just studied harder to pull my next exam grade up. That's all. And u don't agreed that these schedule/classes are easier than any other upper level classes? These classes are just general, wait until going further to the upper classes then that's another story. U want me to tell him/her to drop the class? SO when he or she going to a pharmacy school, the classes getting tough and tough, the OP has to drop the classes in Pharmacy school? I am not here to argue with u, I just stated my own opinion to OP that he or she shouldn't drop and study harder to build up his or her endurance and prepare for pharmacy school. And at the end it's all his/her choice, not mine. But that's just my own opinion. U think pharmacy school is 12 credit hrs per semester? If the OP has a family, health problems or etc, then that's understandable and can drop the class. But if not he or she should continue, what is wrong with that? I just stated my own opinion to the OP, NOT to u (I've never called ur name out in the first place.) So why did u get offended? and I don't really cares what u said really. Ure just out of nowhere and initiated the problem bigger and bigger. IS that how u solve the problems at ur work place?

U bring up my stellar GPA and low PCAT score? My stellar GPA is working hard for it. and my PCAT----U think I am a genius to get a high PCAT in the first time taking it like some of others? U think I am a book-smart that have all these info in my head after taking the classes a while back and expected me to do well on the PCAT for the first time? did u even consider some factors that some people are not good at English part? time management during the test? and NO time to review bc they have to work and have everything else to do? These factors could make a person getting a lower score. Although I don't do good on the first one, I will study hard for the next one, and the next one, and if have to then the next one. Did u see my point here? I am pretty sure that u'd studied ur ass off for the pcat too. PS. PCAT score doesn't determine who u are.

I agree with you. These classes ARE EASY. It doesn't matter what college you are at the subject material is only so hard. I just had my interview and one of the questions was how have I shown I can handle the coursework that pharmacy school requires. I'm currently taking 27 semester hours split between 2 schools. Upper Level Microbiology with Lab, Upper level Cel bio with Lab (Not Bio 1), Biomedical applications to Physics (Upper level Physics class), Bio 2 with Lab, A&P with lab, and 2 online classes. The interviewers were impressed and they thought as long as I maintained a good GPA like I currently have that Taking such a heavy schedule is a great thing. If you are taking an easy schedule and have to drop one of your easy classes it doesn't lok good. I agree with you fully
