I am wondering what you guys think. I am gogin inot my senior year as a pre-med major, trying to get into dental school and I am taking the DAT at the end of the summer. My cum. GPA is a 3.1 because I have B- in composition and a few C's and a D- in a humanities , but my science GPA is a 3.51. Is this decent situation to get accepted into any dental school?

can i be the first to ask if it's because you know it's not good enough to get into med school - but maybe dental?

LOL, you obviously don't meet the min GPA for "pre-med" major.

I suggest you go into nursing if you can't cut it for medicine.

Why is your science gpa so much higher than the cum?

Usually it goes in the other direction.

That is one of the weirdest things i have seen on here.

I'm hoping your school actually has a pre-med major and you joined that because they don't have a pre-dent major? If so, your GPA isn't that bad, just do well on the DAT. But definitely don't think Dent is so much easier to get into than Med.

Haha, ppl here are so vicious when an ex pre-med comes wandering in. I definitely agree with Vicviper! Are you planning on applying this cycle?? IF not, then work your best to raise your GPA if possilbe. A 3.5 sci GPA is pretty good!

Don't get discouraged about asking questions here. It's just that your it is first post and you mention that you're a premed. To lots of ppl, it would seem that you're only considering dentistry b/c you failed @ med..... Make sure you know what you're getting youreslf into.

Gotta make sure he/she doesn't fit into this stereotype:

I am pre med because my school does not offer a pre dent program. We do take the same classes , physics, chemistry , biology ext.. My science GPA is high because I am good at science , which makes sense because I am a science major. Back to the orgional question, with a high science GPA, how much of an effect would my low grades in humanities and composition have on getting accepted into dental school.

Not any different than medical school...as long as you do fine on the reading comp portion of the DAT and don't like write like you did in your humanities classes you should be fine.
