For context, I submitted my primary application on the very first day it was able to be submitted, and I got secondaries from about 30 schools. Following this, I narrowed down my list to 20 schools to write secondaries for, as it seemed like a safe enough amount. I made sure to submit my secondaries in a timely manner, most of the time within the same week of receiving a secondary invite, but oftentimes the same or next day. Obviously I had pre-written for a lot of these secondaries, and I was confident that what I was submitting was high quality, and not just a rushed submission. However, it is now almost January and I have received two interview invites, one of which I received a rejection from. The part that bothers me is that I have heard absolutely nothing from over half of the schools I have submitted to. From what I've gathered from other online forums is that I should probably be worried at this point, however I don't think I've seen such an extensive ghosting talked about elsewhere, especially considering how early I submitted to each school. I am posting to see what other people's thoughts are on this situation, and if I should just start preparing to reapply, or if I should stick it out and see what happens. I would also love to hear if anyone else has experienced anything similar this cycle or in past cycles. Thanks

There are still a few months left in the MD cycle when you could get more interviews
Your decision to write only 20 secondaries puzzles me- the app fee to those other 10 schools was money you threw away 🙁

You got two interviews. That's better than many others who got nada. Hold on... the cycle is not over but you should always be improving in the event that you don't end up in med school next summer/fall and have to have a plan B.

People don't like to self-disclose anything that could trigger hostile responses from random internet trolls.

There is no guarantee that you would get a better response from schools because you "followed the conventions" and applied early. So did 10-20K other people.

We always tell people to consider yourself still rejected until you get an offer. Be smart and begin identifying and addressing deficiencies in your profile. You didn't post a WAMC here, so perhaps you tried to punch above your weight. Who knows?

There are multiple threads about this each cycle. Some schools prefer to wait till spring to send rejections.
