tommorow im going to go sign up for classes at my local community college. i have a pretty good idea of what im going to take my first semester, but would just like to know what you guys thought about it. i really want to focus on doing well this first semester and i think this schedule will enable me to do that.

biology I w/lab 4 cr. hours (i think this class will be more than manageable because im taking biology II right now as a senior. if i had to guess i would say that its going to be the same material im covering now because they use the same book and stuff)
general chemistry I w/lab 4 cr. hours (im in the same boat here as biology, im taking chemistry II right now and its been pretty easy for me so i dont think general chem will be that bad)
english 101 3 cr. hours
college algebra 3 cr. hours (i might catch a few of you shaking your heads on this one, but i think im going to take college algebra to brush up on my math skills and take trig next semester before calculus. im just not confident enough to go ahead and take calculus yet. i opted out of ap calculus this year, i know very stupid move 👎but i didnt have an idea of what i wanted to go into after high school. ive already had pre-cal and from what ive heard its very similar to college algebra.)
5th class? (i'm undecided on my 5th class, im thinking somewhere along the lines of a history class or pyschology class. i need some help here... as a pre-pharmacy student or pharmacy student yourself, what would you suggest?)

so what do you think? any other comments or concerns are welcomed. i really would appreciate the insight of those who have went through this before i have. thanks in advance!!

Psychology is a solid choice. It is a prereq at a lot of schools. Sociology or public speaking are options as well. That will put you at 17 credits though, so make sure you can handle that.

Start with Algebra and rebuild your math base then take calculus later.

For your 5th class I would recommend something that looks fun to you. There is room in pre-pharm for some gen ed classes, so take something interesting. I would suggest you go with an academic class (not basket weaving or guitar lessons), but it doesn't need to fit your pre-pharm list necessarily. If you do decide to get something "important," psych or sociology are good choices. Or microeconomics (not hard).

college pre-calculus is a joke. i think anyone that can opt out of calculus can handle pre-calculus. you'll regret taking basic algebra because it's too easy.
for you 5th class, i would take a foreign language. all your other classes will require studying and a foreign language is pretty easy and a pre-req for most of the pharmacy schools i've looked at.

Foreign language classes aren't hard but they are very time consuming. There is always several hours of homework.

It sounds like what you have shouldn't be terrible. Coming fresh out of related courses in high school, I'd say adding micro/macroeconomics should be relatively easy. Like most courses it does depend greatly on the instructor. During the semester see if you can find some experienced students there that can give you a heads up on other instructors at the CC. Don't look for "easy" ones, but look for good ones. Ones who know their stuff and want to make sure you know what you're doing. They're the best ones to get you fit for the rigors of pharm school coming from the CC environment.

Psychology is easy! Easy A .... at least at my school.

I would have to agree psychology or sociology is a very easy A, I think that would be a good balance because it does not require alot of studying, so you can focus on your core classes.

HTH

psychology i didn't study for at all and got a B
sociology is an easy A
microeconomics i got a C in, but i didn't really try and now i regret that.
