In his neoplasia lecture, goljan mentions something about "AUPA [sic!!!] tumors" i don't know what he is referring to... can anyone point in the in the right direction?

I've heard them called APUDomas. From what I understand it's the blanket term for neuroendocrine tumors.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are also S-100 antigen positive and usually of neural crest origin, ie a melanoma.

No that's right. Small cell carcinoma of the lung is also S-100 positive, as is pheo.

apud tumors are tumors of neural crest origin. they stain with s-100 because of the neurofilaments. another example is carcinoid tumors.

Yup. APUD stuff is secretory, making the majority of the bodies' peptide hormones.
