got 37 on MCAT but used extended time...

I have no idea, but was just curious as to what you get extra time for, and how much of it?

My gut would be that your score is good enough that even if they think it is "enhanced" it's hard to argue with it as an excellent achievement regardless of circumstance.
 
I have a long-documented learning disability that I have received extra time on tests through undergrad and grad school.

I decided against pursuing extra time on the MCAT--out of fear of bias.

The schools swear in writing that they do not discriminate against those with disabilities. Still, I don't trust them.

If they can't consider it and use it againt you, why should the extra time get reported to them? To me, if they are not allowed to consider the information, again, why is it reported?
 
Extended time on the MCAT is such flagrant nonsense. The MCAT is not a hard test - it is a fast test. The difficulty of it is directly due to the lack of time.

Hahaha. I think he's doing a lab year.

However, his ability to be everywhere is uncanny.

The fact that he:

a) remembered he had a different score and
b) had enough time to go look for it

must mean he's one hell of a resident at doing the impossible (make time where it doesn't exist and remember **** people don't care about).

IMPRESSIVE!
 
It should be noted that the OP only has 2 posts(that were both new threads mentioning the MCAT score in the title), one saying he got a 37 and one saying he got a 35. It's just clicking view post history and voila.

too true. i don't watch TV anymore. seriously... i just lurk the SDN, usually you can find some juicy bits like this one. i wasn't even going to click this one,. but i was interested... "how can you get extra time for the MCAT?"

Sorry guys. For some reason I thought I had 37. I wasn't thinking straight today. Exhausting day.

To answer one of the posts here, I used 1.25 extended time.

I don't buy it... I still remember what I got on my SAT II exams eight years ago. How the hell do you forget your recent MCAT score...?
 
Sometimes I thought I got a 2200. Wait, this isn't the new SAT?
 
I think you do have a severe learning disability if you can't remember your MCAT score!

You guys are crazy. I can't remember my own SAT II scores. Or even my high school GPA. You need a life.
 
Extra time wouldn't help THAT much. At least for me, I finish on time but still screw up questions. When I do have the time to go back and check answers, I usually change a few questions. Half of them will end up right, half of them were right and are now wrong.

Cuz...you know...Having a life will make you forget all about certain academic milestones throughout the course of a professional student's life...

That's a good question. They have to cut you off from that extra time stuff eventually I'm assuming. You can't be in an OR whining that your patient can't die yet because you have a learning disability and need some extra time to figure things out.
 
As a matter of fact, you can get extra time for the boards. Earlier this year there was a very long thread in the Allo forum about a woman who demanded special accommodations because she had a nursing infant and had ADHD or something like that. Most of the posts were angry about her demands. She had failed step 2 once, and this was her last attempt so that she could start her residency at Mass Gen. It appears that in spite of the extra time and private testing room , she still didn't do well .

Milestones that don't matter anymore and are years in the past: sure does. (of course when asked most people could probably still bring up a fairly close number)

Excellent point. I also think the same goes for gender/ethnicity. If admissions is ever going to be nondiscriminatory, none of those factors should be reported. If they are to make decisions not based on those, then that information should not even be provided.

Exactly. How is someone with a learning disability different than someone who just can't hack it in school? If they can't perform at the level demanded by the field, why are they getting special consideration? Primary and secondary education is different because everyone is required to learn a curriculum, and teachers have to do whatever works. Getting into medical school, however, is a competitive sport, and it's not like people with short legs get a 25% head start in a foot race...

I'm curious about what the OP's disability is, if they are indeed not a troll.

You've been so busy, for so long, that you've forgotten what you made on your SAT? What are you 75 years old?
 
Give the guy a break. Whether he is a troll or not, who cares? There are a lot of trolls here on SDN and other internet forum. Attacking him won't resolve anything.
