I'm currently in the process of transferring schools. I'll be at a four year university this fall and still have about two and a half years left of school. At the community college I was at previously, I had a bad year due to financial troubles. My mom was losing her house and going through bankruptcy and I needed to work a lot to make ends meet. I should of taken time off school, but I didn't want to get behind in my credits...Everything just got really stressful and I ended up getting D's and F's one semester. Without those bad grades, I have a 3.35 overall GPA and a 4.0 science GPA.

My main question is do PT schools allow replacement grades? I know that they calculate all courses taken during your time as an undergrad into your overall GPA. But if you retake a course, will the new grade replace the old grade in your GPA?

I do plan on working really hard to get my GPA above 3.50. I was working full time when I was going to community college, but after this summer when I start school I'm going down to part time.

Read around. This is one of the most commonly asked questions.

Most schools average out the grades. So if you're retaking any Ds or Fs make sure you ace them. Specially if they are science pre-reqs. You can also explain why you performed poorly on your application.

There are plenty of schools that will replace the grades. Almost all of the ones I applied to did. But you will definitely have to explain what happened.
