So I just graduated from a high school in Iowa this year. My high school paid for me to go to a class at a community college. The teacher I had at the Community College was horrible. He wouldn't show us our scores on anything we did in that class. Needless to say, I didn't do AS WELL in the class as I had hoped.
I moved to Illinois about 2 weeks ago and I am going to a community college in the fall. Will that bad grade effect my GPA? I'm pretty positive it won't, but I just want to see what everyone else says.
Thanks!!

if you took the class for college credit, then it'll show up on your overall transcript and affect your GPA (i know mine did)..but maybe it's a Florida thing???...

I agree, if it is on your transcript then it affects your GPA. It may not be calculated into your school GPA/transcript, but pharmacy schools generally want official copies of your transcripts from every college/university you attended. Depending on the course they might care or not.

You will be required to report that transcript on PharmCAS or a non-PharmCAS institution's application.

However, it sounds like this class is one of your first college classes. You have plenty to time to get your GPA up and to retake the class.

It was just Intro to Psych. I don't think it's that big of a deal. I got a B+ in the class. That's just not how I wanted to start out going into college.

Thanks for your help.

Oh...........

It's nice that you've set your sights on earning As early and often, but a B+ isn't a liability on your application. You made it sound like you got a C- or below.🙂

You remind me of myself when I was in undegrad, and I would freak out that I was only getting A- in my Analytical Chemistry class (when half the class dropped, and no one else got above C+ 😀). You will be fine. 🙂

LMAO!..i know...i actually thought she was talking about a D or something...

you'll do fine Angela!!!!

*deletes his own long post about how a bad grade early on won't weigh heavily* =p

Good grief, I have more Cs on my transcript than I have toes. =P

Was just wondering whether anyone knows if it is better to withdrawl from a class or do your best than retake the class if I dont get the grade I want.

Depends on the grade you want. If it's a difference between, say, a B and an A, I'd say don't retake it. Having too many withdraws on your transcript can mean you are prone to give up, and they don't know the reason for the W, whether if it's between a B and a A or between a failing grade and a passing. Having one or two Ws, however, won't be the end of the world. Especially if you're looking into failing a class. Because at least Ws do not affect your GPA. Really, it's a case by case thing.

You probably shouldn't have more than one W per year of college.
My friend and I both had 4 W's with a bachelors, and we both got in.

Im currently taking precalculus and we had our first test and we have a total of 4 in the class. I got a D on the first one and am really stressed about how Im going to do on the next ones. Im not getting the material as easy as everyone else because I haven't taken college Algebra in 3 years. I need a good grade. I have a 2.7 GPA so the dean of the school I want to go to says I need to do good on the rest of my prereq and the pcat. I have org1&2,physics,calc,trig,speech,and bio 2 .thats it to bring up my gpa=( I suck
