If you have the time, I would suggest a retake. Many schools accept 300 as their minimum. If you're not able to retake, just make sure the schools you're applying to don't have a minimum GRE requirement.

I submitted my app on 10/1 and was verified by 10/7. Schools already sent me emails saying they received it as well. Although I did have my LOR's and transcripts submitted previously. I think it goes pretty fast if they are able to verify your grades and your transcripts are readily available.

I got the call while I was in class yesterday! Had to wait until it was over to call back and confirm it was what I was hoping! Let's just say I might not have paid too much attention to the lecture! And yes I'm planning on going in November. Can't wait!

Thanks! It was my second time applying for PT school, so I'm excited.

Haven't put a deposit down yet, but I really like them because it seems students have a good say in their clinical rotations (3-12 weeks clinicals + 1-6 week clinical). Seem like generally nice staff and students who are not by any means pompous. They also offer 3 movement classes which I think would be crucial for my hopeful speciality in sport ortho.

Downside though, I think they require 130 credits which is more than most schools.

Stats below....my undergraduate degree was not super strenuous.
Overall GPA: 3.66
Pre-Req GPA: 3.75
GRE: Verbal: 160, Quantitative: 150, Writing: 3.5

Extra-Curriculars: Varsity Football, Olympic Weightlifting, Missions Trips (Haiti, Nicaragua), Exercise Science Club, Humanics in Action

Volunteer: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center -TBI, Amputee, Out & In-patient, Acute (50hrs), General Physical Therapy Outpatient Orthopedic (162hrs), Pediatric (20hrs).

I was fortunate enough to be accepted at the UDel's DPT program. However, many PT's I have shadowed had stressed the importance of getting good clinicals with your own say in where you go. UDel has three clinicals (all 10 weeks long), two of which must be in acute and inpatient (they refer to it as "medically complex" and "rehabilitation") , leaving one for an elective.

Clinical settings (only 1 in an area I hope to specialize in)
It's in Delaware....somewhat sarcastic but its location is not ideal for large scale networking on a professional, academic or even social level.

Pro's
Top 1 or 2 PT program in the country
2.5 yrs instead of 3 (less time, less $)
Great Networking opportunity from the UDel name alone.

My question is should I still consider this program despite its clinical placement? My other top program offers 4 clinicals (3 12weeks with 1 inpt/outpt requirement, and 1 6 week).

Thanks for the opinions.

Hey! I was accepted to both Temple University and University of Delaware as well and had to make that difficult decision between the two since I loved both of them. I'm learning towards University of Delaware for several reasons. I really liked that it was a 2.5 years instead of 3 years to save some money and along with that I also liked that they had their own clinic on site (for me that was the game changer). Although Temple had the pro bono clinic on site, it wasn't nearly as big as the one at Delaware. They both have integrated clinical experiences but Temples is only two half days during the Fall and Spring Semester the first year while there are three at Delaware & last all semester long which I think allows for some more clinical experience. Also, at Temple the cadavers for Gross Anatomy were shared with the med students so you are only able to use half the cadaver while at Delaware the whole cadaver will be used and not shared.

Either way, both programs are very impressive and in my opinion you couldn't go wrong with either one. 🙂 Congratulations on getting accepted!

Hey, I am currently a second year PT student at UD, and we actually have 6 clinical experiences. Three are completed while you are taking classes, and we call these "integrated clinical experiences" (ICEs for short), and the other three are our external affiliations which are the 10 week long clinicals you were talking about that take place during our last 6-7 months of the program. Since you are already familiar with the external affils, I'll give you more info about the ICEs - two of them are completed in UD's very own PT clinic which has two sections: a neurological and older adult clinic (which we call NOA) and the sports and orthopedic clinic (S&O). For both of these, students work in the clinic 6 hours per week on either a MWF schedule (2 hrs/day) or a TR schedule (3 hrs/day) throughout the semester (about 78 hours total). ICEs aren't observation hours - all students working in the clinic have their own schedules, treat their own patients, have to do their own SOAP notes, and even have to do billing. Obviously you have a CI in the clinic whenever you are treating to help guide you if you need help, but they expect you to be pretty independent so that you can develop the clinical skills you need to survive in the "real world." The last ICE is a pediatric rotation at Nemours AI Dupont Childrens' Hospital in Wilmington, and that is only 2 weeks long for about 20 hours total; for this one you aren't treating patients, and it is mostly observational, which is a bit of a bummer if you're interested in peds like me, but the good thing about UD is that they allow you to choose where you want to do your external affils at, and if you want to do a peds rotation, you can.

Nothing yet. My first round of applications were due October 3rd and everything else is due early November to mid December. Hopefully soon and with good news this time around. 🙂

My application was verified on 9/13, and I got the invite nearly 2 weeks later. You could e-mail them and see if they are still looking at your application or not. What are your stats like?

For another data point, my app was verified on Thurs, Sept 22, and I received an interview invite from Drexel on Monday, Sept 26th for the Oct 28th interview date.
 
Has anyone been able to find home health observation hours?

That's the same exact day that I got my interview e-mail as well!
 
Update: Just got my invitation to Drexel's interview session in November.

Pre-Requisite GPA: 3.78
GRE: V (155), Q (152), A.W. (5.5)
Observation hours: over 450 hrs

University: Delaware State University

Major: Movement Science

Undergrad GPA: 3.22

Post-Bacc GPA: 3.36

Overall PTCAS GPA: 3.10

Pre-Req GPA: 3.43-3.51 (depending on school)

GRE: 151 V, 141 Q, 4.5 AW (retaking in November.. I got sick while I was taking the test, hence the subpar scores. I have no doubts that I will do better on the second retake though)

Letters of Recommendation: 1 PT, 2 professors, 1 work supervisor

Volunteer Hours: Currently ~90 hours completed at an inpatient skilled nursing facility (geriatrics), planning on completing 200 total. Also planning to do 40 hours at a local outpatient clinic.

Applied: University of Miami, University of Saint Augustine (Florida Campus), Mount Saint Mary's University, Boston University and Florida Gulf Coast University

Acceptances: N/A

Rejections: N/A

Kind of nervous about my chances comparing my GPAs to others. I'm hoping my LORs, essay, and GRE scores (pending retake) will make up for my GPA.
