What was the situation when you applied the first time?

What was the situation when you applied the first time?

When I applied last year I was rejected from every school I applied to, which was understandable because my application was very weak. I had a C in one of my pre reqs, no variety in my volunteer hours, and my personal statement was also weak. Last year Marymount rejected me without offering me an interview, as well as St.Augustine. I was rejected from Lynchburg as well. I was offered an interview at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, however they rejected me too. This year I strengthened my app by retaking the pre req I had a C in. I received an A and had that professor write me a recommendation stating the progress I had made as a student. I also completed more volunteer hours and strengthened my essay.

Thanks! I received an email from them a few weeks ago stating my app was incomplete, because I hadn't sent in the supp fee. However, I had paid it online but I guess that didn't register in their system. I haven't heard anything from them since though, and since interviews have already started I'm assuming I will be receiving a rejection.

I actually was pretty crushed by them waitlisting me. I thought I was a sure thing because I worked so hard to get the stats I have. I actually spoke with UM the other day... they said my application was extremely stong; she said my interview was great, my LORs were amazing, and I recieved a 25/25 on my essay. She then moved on to tell me that my verbal GRE was the only thing she could see that may ahve been the reason for my being waitlisted. She said they had a really competitive group this year etc.
She told me I am "in the next 5" on the waitlist but unfortunately I am not sure if I want to hold out for their school anymore.

What!! A really competitive group? You don't get more competitive then your stats...I mean are you kidding me....I'm crushed reading this because Miami is my #1 choice and my stats can never be as good as yours. I'm assuming you have been in contact with Jhelane? love her by the way....did they give you any feed back about your interview?

Yeah I thought I was a sure thing but who knows. I think they might give preference to FL residents? I have been in contact with her. She is the one that told me about my GRE veral being my weak spot. She said " I looked over your application and everything is really stong." She literally told me that my LORs and interview we excellent and that my essay recieved a 25 out of 25. My interviewer was more so trying to sell me on Miami and praised me so much. I thought I had it in the bag. I really am not sure where I went wrong or if people really just have stats like mine and exceptional GRE scores.

Did you apply this cylce/ were you waitlisted too?

I will be applying this coming July when the ptcas opens for the 2014 cycle.

Just saying, that Valvano guy was right:

"Don't give up, don't EVER give up."

Fortunately, I received the admission from two schools, which is better than nothing. I'm eagerly looking forward to starting PT program in this summer!

Thank you thank you. LLU is my number one but CSU Sac is 20k cheaper. I'm pretty sure ima learn towards LLU but I have to still think about it. There's a couple things thats needs to factored in. Gota make a pros and cons list.

To all of you reading posts about how difficult it is to get into PT school, it's all true. I'm a non-trad applicant with a low GPA who faced an uphill battle throughout the entire app process....but if I can get in, so can you.

No matter how poor your GPA is, don't lose faith. Improve whatever you can and cast a BIG net when applying.

After the rejections stacking up, I realized that it's quite a challenge for international applicants to get into entry-level Doctor of Physical therapy program. I am still waiting for the response from half of schools I applied to, and this waiting process has drained me out. Fortunately, I received the admission from two schools, which is better than nothing. I'm eagerly looking forward to starting PT program in this summer!

I am wondering if all of your prerequisite courses were taken in Korea. I did some in China and others in the US. And I am still waiting.
