I have OK stats so I am casting a really wide net to help my chances. Have a LOR from a current director of admissions at a DPT program I am not applying too so I am hoping that helps. Good Luck Everyone!

I'm applying this cycle:

University: University of Arizona
Major: BS in Psychology and a minor in Pre-Health Studies
Overall GPA: 3.9
Pre-Req GPA: ~3.74ish depending on the classes.
GRE: 164 Verbal, 156 Quantitative, 5.0 Analytical Writing

Observation hours: 111 hours observing in a pediatric outpatient therapies clinic. My observation hours are probably the weakest part of my application as I was required to commit for at least 100 hours to the peds clinic, and then I had to leave for Seoul. I've been trying to find more observation hours here, but it's proving hard with working full time 9-5 (and PTs also working 9-5). I am hoping that my hundreds of hours of volunteering in hospitals helps in this area, as I've definitely come to learn what it's like to work with patients and medical professions in all areas.
Work Experience: I worked on-campus part time during a few of my semesters in undergrad. Currently a public school teacher with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
Extra Curricular: I've volunteered/interned for a few hundred hours at various hospitals, including homeless departments, general hospital wards, and an emergency department with a county prison contract, all serving under-served populations (I used to want to go to med school). I've also served as a biology lab preceptor and was a member of the Muralcles service club. I also studied abroad at the National University of Singapore.

Applying to (likely): University of Washington, Northern Arizona University, Northwestern University, UPitt, UIC, Temple University, Drexel University, George Washington University...

(I'm applying to many schools partly because I'm too thorough for my own good, and partly because I don't know what problems may arise with apply from overseas later down the road. I do need to include a few more safety schools, though).

You'll probably be fine. Your extracurricular activities are good and your GPA is solid. Most PT applicants don't perform very well on the GRE. You may want to add an additional school or two instead of retaking.

Took my GRE three years ago when I had planned to go to grad school.... then I took the MCAT because I thought I wanted to be a doctor, until I worked at Benchmark Physical Therapy and the hospital... I realized the doctor-patient relationship is completely different than the PT-patient relationship. Anyways.... I plan on retaking the GRE this month. I've spoken with Wash U, Duke and Belmont and they don't think a Sept test is "too late" for the 2015 class. Here's to hoping I get in!

Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure how many were accepted, but I was in the first round of interviews and there were 20 other people being interviewed. Since the class size is 30, there should be at least 9 spots open, but probably more!

Your stats are awesome! I wouldn't bother retaking the GRE if I were you. That's a good score, especially with such a high GPA.

Your experience as a medic in the military is really going to stand out. I can almost assure you that you will get in somewhere. The GRE is a little low but it's not below a 300 which is key. You'll be alright! I'd actually add one or two more schools instead of reducing it. Better safe than sorry.

So, I'm new to this website... I'm kind of nervous because I still have two pre req classes withstanding (Physiology and Physics II) that I'm enrolled in now... Does that hurt my chances of getting into some schools?? Do my stats look good enough to get into one of these schools?? I had my Missouri State interview last weekend, and I'm not sure I did the best at it.. How heavily are interviews weighed? I was very nervous so I'm not sure what they thought of me. Also, if anyone has had history with these programs and know how the interviews are set up I would love to know.

For outstanding pre-reqs, it just depends on the school. Many will allow a max of 2 to be outstanding at time of application, but you would just have to find out what the schools policy is. For the two that you have interviews at I assume 2 is acceptable or they probably wouldn't be interviewing you.

Your GPA is well above average for most programs and your GRE is a bit above average for most programs. You will be just fine. 🙂

I have two pre-reqs that I'm currently taking this semester as well...All the schools I'm applying to, except CSUN. let you have 1 or 2 pre-reqs up until the start of school (so you can have 1 or 2 in the spring semester as well). With a good GPA, I think they don't really count it against you since they figure you probly won't get a bad grade in those courses.

Your stats look great. You should be looking good. It depends on the school, but most schools don't mind a couple of prereqs left. The head of admissions that I spoke with several times said that doesn't effect your application at all provided you don't have more outstanding than the school max. I am still taking statistics and biology II. I think with most places, barring a total disaster in the interview it isn't that important if you have really good stats. Schools differ of course, but you look strong.
