Most-recent activity: Had an interview with Rosalind Franklin U- waitlisted.
Also have an interview with University of Miami in November.

Is it normal to get waitlisted this early on in the process? I felt my interview was very strong, and I'm not one to normally give myself positive feedback (I demand more from myself). I'm trying to stay motivated and encouraged..and just wonder if there is something I could be doing differently or better.

I would expect that you were waitlisted at Rosalind Franklin U because your GRE is a little below their average accepted. As far as why it happened this early, I suspect its because they have an early decision process so their class is likely already full with ED applicants.

As a student of WSU and has taken two biology courses, that's impressive you managed a near perfect GPA. Why did you choose the biology route and not Kinesiology if you knew you were going to apply for PT schools? I'm a current Junior and biology is currently destroying my GPA lol.

Where is your undergrad at, if I may ask?

Anybody hear from Shenandoah yet? They told me interviews would be assigned from now til end of Oct...I'm biting my fingernails. Their deadline is oct 1, and their interviews are on the 20th and 21st of nov...I can't imagine they could notify people much later than late October. Air fare would be crazy.

Did you both receive an email saying your application was being forwarded to the AdCom for full review? They emailed me last week on Saturday 10/17 stating they received my application (which was verified 10/13) and would follow up with another email stating it was being forwarded, but I have yet to receive that email. It's making me nervous!

I think it should at least land you a few interviews! While your GRE scores are a bit low, your GPA is very competitive!

Your GPA is really good given your major. I would be really surprised if you don't get a lot of interviews. Your GRE is kind of low but many of the schools I don't feel put a ton of emphasis on it. My only suggestion would be to add some more observation hours as yours are limited. Most schools that I looked at suggest at least 100 so they know you are confident that you are in the right field. Do the schools you applied to have a set requirement for hours? My GPA is close to yours and my GRE was only slightly higher as well and I have interviews at 4/9 schools I applied to within the next month AND they were my reach schools. Be confident. You didn't submit at the last minute either which should work in your benefit.

Yes, most of my schools want like 40 to 60 hours. Except for northwestern. They said that most applicants have around 100, I will hit that soon so it's okay. I'm still observing and stuff every week.

Wow, I just realized I put August in my post but I meant October haha. I submitted my PTCAS in the middle of August and supplementals like right when I got them. Northwestern is definitely in my top so that's my plan for right now but if I get into OSU or Pitt, I may consider those..

Awesome! I just got into Northwestern as well. You'll have to let me know what you decide, maybe we will be classmates again!

I applied to the University of Wisconsin-Madison...and I'm realizing how important the culture of the school I go to is for me. I have never visited this school before, and they do not require interviews. They are supposed to let me know between December 15- 24 about their decision. Would you recommend visiting? Would you wait till you were accepted to visit - since money is a factor?

Thank you!

I have recently visited the campus and can say it is one of the best cultures I have ever been a part of. Everyone loves being there and it's a very optimistic environment. I have a few cousins that attend the school for grad programs and cannot speak more highly of the institution. If finances allow you to visit, then do it. If not, then I don't think you can go wrong with the school. Beautiful campus, right on 2 lakes, and the atmosphere is incredible. I hope some of this helps! Good luck!

Hey guys, so ive read this forum, (well kind of skimmed through it) and I just needed some feedback on what my next steps should based on my current stats on applying to DPT school.

School: SUNY
Overall-GPA: 2.99
Pre-Req GPA: 3.2
GRE: V: 148, Q: 148, A: 3.0 (plan on retaking it in exactly a month)
Extras: working as a Lead PT aide in an outpatient clinic, so I've accrued 1000+ hours,
50+ hours in a neuro, and 50+ ortho surgeon office.

Predicament: not sure what my next step should be. improve my stats even more I planned on applying asap to approximately 15 schools, and seeing what happens. but just wanted to see if anyone had gotten into any schools with stats similar to mine, and if so where did you get in?

please any sort of feedback would be greatly appreciated.

In my honest opinion, you have to either retake your GRE's or retake more courses to raise your GPA. I have spoken to people who have gotten into school with your GRE scores but had superb grades or vise versa but not below average on both [which would be the case for you]

And I'd hate to tell you this but your 1000+ hours of observation won't mean much to PT programs if you're academics don't show that you're prepared for the DPT course load.

I see that you are planning on retaking the GRE's. I would have to agree and say that may be the cheapest/fastest way to somewhat strengthen your application. I would make sure to try and score 155+ and 4.0+ on the sections. If you haven't tried using Magoosh, I highly recommend it. I used it for about 2 weeks and felt decently prepared for the exam. Good luck

It is incredibly expensive to apply to 15 schools. If I were you, I would research heavily schools that would be a better fit with your stats. For example, maybe those that look at the last 60 hours and don't have a minimum GRE. Next, I would take that money you save and start retaking any prerequisites that you didn't do outstanding in in order to raise your GPA. I also think retaking the GRE is a necessity and the easiest. However, I think both an increase in GPA and GRE is necessary.

What has everyone's time frame been from PTCAS verification to hearing about any interview dates, acceptances or rejections? The hardest part is waiting...

you might have a shot. do some research to see which programs look at either the last 60 units, or take a lower gpa. i applied to 15 schools last year with a 2.7 and got rejected everywhere. If you don't get in this year, take some classes at CC's to get your gpa to a 3.1 or 3.2!

Hey I went to high school in IC! Love the place. Iowa is an awesome school, plus it's pretty damn close to the top for DPT - what's your top pick?

I just got an interview at Shenandoah! Thought I'd add it here, since I was complaining earlier on this thread about wanting to hear...Just got the e-mail this evening.

Just e-submitted and got my transcripts ordered, so I figured I'd post here to alleviate some of the anxiety 🙂

Probably Duke or Colorado... I am trying to keep an open mind though, and it would be tough to leave such a great place here in Iowa! Just waiting and hoping for some more interviews.

I'm so nervous waiting to hear back from schools >_<
I submitted my Stony Brook supplement yesterday. So far I've only heard from schools stating that they received my app, but I'm still waiting to hear for any interviews or anything.

you might have a shot. do some research to see which programs look at either the last 60 units, or take a lower gpa. i applied to 15 schools last year with a 2.7 and got rejected everywhere. If you don't get in this year, take some classes at CC's to get your gpa to a 3.1 or 3.2!
did you get interviews at any programs last year?
