Just found out that Columbia sent me a formal interview invite 2 weeks ago that I never received. I will be headed to NY in less than a month to interview there. Wish me luck guys:xf:!

I'm interviewing there too, on Feb 4! I found out almost a month ago...they wanted me to come January 7th but i'll be out of the country so I had to reschedule! Let me know how it goes...good luck!

What do you mean you never received it? I feel like I should have heard back from several schools and haven't yet. Did you contact the school at ask (for lack of better words) "what's up with my app"?

It was an odd set of circumstances. I get an email from the admissions coordinator that read as if it was a "follow up" to a previous email inviting me to an interview. I was like😱, because I never received any email from Columbia. Now mind you I have received 4 interviews up to this point and been accepted to 2 of them so far, so I am checking my email, spam, and junk mail at least 15-20 times a day. I never received the email from Columbia stating that I had an interview. So I contacted them immediately asking was this "follow-up" email sent to me accidentally🙁. Lol! She tells me that I received an interview letter 2 weeks ago. I am dumbfounded and geeked at the same time So now I am trying scramble and get things together so I can get there for this interview.

Thanks! I'm worried that I am at a disadvantage cuz I had to reschedule for a later date but Ill be in Kenya for three weeks...so not much I can do haha

Yes! Yes! Yes! I love it! 😀

What made you decide Chatham?? Good decision though! I mean, I may be biased! Haha.

A LOT of things... but probably the #1 reason? I liked that Chatham sent me an email, an official package in the mail with info/Chatham goodies, and then I got a phone call from Dr. Schriber personally congratulating me/giving me his number so I had someone to call if I needed help.

What did I get from Pitt? A very generic email. The lady I spoke to at Pitt was nice, but I just feel that if I go to Pitt I'll be a number, if I go to Chatham I'll be a person. And that's important to me.

I just got mine tonight! Super excited! What day is your interview?

My interview is Jan. 14th too! I am extremely excited as well. I was not sure if Columbia started their interview process yet, so I kind of assumed it might be some "bad" news coming my way. Come to find out that they don't even start interviewing until early January! Best wishes to you, and I look forward to seeing you there!👍

Figured it was time for me to add my stats onto the growing list. 🙂

University: Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP)
Major: Early Chilldhood / Elementary Education
Overall GPA: 3.92 (when I graduated)

Extra-Curric: I am a certified spinning instructor, Les Mills BodyPump instructor, CPR/AED/First Aid certified, during my undergrad I did a lot of volunteer work/activities/part-time jobs, but since I am now in the "real world" I work 40 hours a week and teach 6 exercise classes a week.

Volunteer: 100+ hours of volunteer work between Out-patient, In-patient, pediatrics, visiting nurses association, etc, etc. I have seen almost all of it with the few volunteering stints I did.

(I noticed a lot of people have WAY more volunteer hours... that is so commendable... Since I am "older" and work full-time M-F I don't have much time for volunteering, especially when most clinics/hospital PTs are done by 3-4pm... Hopefully not having as many hours won't be a downfall...)

GUYS! So I'm a first year Columbia student and I'm really excited cuz I'm gonna be one of the students on Jan 14, 21, 28, and Feb 4th to talk to you guys and answer questions and that sort of thing and I can't wait to meet you! You're gonna love it! Sorry I'm Columbia's biggest cheerleader lol. But also if you do have any questions, feel free to message me and I'll be glad to help! I just finished with my last final for the semester so should have time to respond 👍

I think there's a lot to be said about smaller programs and their ability to be able to give more one-on-one attention, and I know I'll appreciate that when there are concepts that I'm struggling with 😉 Plus, I can't beat a 2.5 year program (vs 3 years) and 20-25k less than my other top pick, while still being able to have a shot at doing clinical work in UPMC. 🙂

One of my good friends is currently in a smaller program (about 30-40 kids) and she said that it's so comforting to know that there is ALWAYS someone she can turn to for help, professor and classmate-wise. "I wanna go where everyone knows my name..."

I don't know who they were directing that question to either but I've been accepted to Loma Linda. My interview was November 21st and I got my acceptance letter in the mail December 11th and it was dated the 6th. Hope that helps!

How/when did u hear from uic. I thought we would only hear in mid-January.

Mail, and seems they have early (1st) and regular decisions if that helps, mailing of PTCAS date seems unimportant on the difference. Your mid-January is probably right for the regular. I'd wait it out til January, likely more spots to give I'm sure. Hope this helps.

Very nice! Congrats on all of your acceptances. When did you interview with Duke? I am wondering why you are not considering it anymore? I interview with them in a couple of weeks and have decided that it has come between them and Pitt. (if i get into duke).

Hey! I interviewed with Duke on December 3rd. Congrats on your interview and good luck! it was a lot more relaxed than I thought it would be!
Honestly I thought all along in this process Duke would be my number 1. But when it came down to it I realized I really needed to be close to friends family and my fiance. I am comparing schools that all have amazing programs and I know I could be happy at any one of them. North carolina just isnt an option for me to be close to family. Chicago, st. Louis and somewhat Pittsburg are close to friends family and my fiance could move there so unless I can figure out some huge reason that I would be way happier or get a better education at Duke than Wash U or Northwestern or Pitt I think ill have to go with the school I wont have to live far away from my finance and family.

Good luck on your decision! If I could move all my family friends and fiance to North Carolina I think I would be choosing Duke!

Thanks for the response. I am in a similar situation. I live 2 hours from Pitt and 8 hours from Duke. I have somewhat fallen in love with Duke's curriculum and the electives they offer. Also, that new fresh tissue lab seems really sweet. I will be physically visiting both programs in the next 2 weeks so I will have a better idea then, but I can't help but look at cost. My fiancee is going to law school and with an excellent scholarship to Pitt and no money to Duke (referring to the money she knows about), our combined debt is less than half if we attend pitt. I don't want to make it sound like I am settling for Pitt because I know it is a great program but I can't help but consider Duke my number 1. If money were equal, I would definitely choose duke. I do like the idea of being a little closer to family too though. Gosh, I don't know. Good luck with your decision. You absolutely cannot go wrong with those schools!

I applied to Oakland University's DPT program in Late October 2010. They said they will send out acceptance letters by end of January 2011 and with 2-3 weeks until that deadline I am getting really anxious to find out the answer. DID anyone out there who applied to Oakland University's DPT program get a response yet??? -thanks.

Second year applying.. After getting rejected to 5/6 schools last year and wait listed to the other (chapman), I am more hopeful of my chance's this year because I already have one interview! I also chose different schools with more forgiving admission requriements, as my GPA isn't the greatest.

Congratulations man. The director for Shenandoah (at my interview) had great things to say about Mayo, in that Shenandoah students are some of the few students from other programs they accept for clinicals, because Mayo is such a great place. (I dont know how true this is). I wonder which of the boat load of schools you got accepted to you will choose.

Well, congratulations! I wish I could've applied to out of state schools!

You should seriously have a party for this. lol

Jbizzle,

I have it down to 4 schools: Temple, Drexel, Mayo, Columbia(interview this Friday so fingers still crossed). I will sit back with the fam and my thoughts to make a final decision.

I'm going to this interview session at MGH too. I'm not sure what to expect from them specifically, but the other interviews I have been on have asked very similar questions such as why PT, why this school, ect. I always come ready with a general knowledge of the school. I really wouldn't be worried. Good luck!! I'm looking forward to this one, their program is really strong.

Attending: UTHSCSA DPT Class of 2014!

Originally from Houston, but fell in love with San Antonio. Staying close to bf is also a plus. UTHSCSA had an amazing interview process, can't wait to graduate and attend PT school! Good luck to everyone![/QUOTE]

Congratulations! sooo exciting! I too got my acceptance call from UTHSCSA and fell in love with it when I went for the interview (which was so laid back!) Can't wait for it to all start!
