I've heard of some schools accepting a 2.9, while other's accepting a 3.6 absolute minimum. It varies depending on the school, but the average accepted is around 3.5 I think. That's all for cumulative. Some schools look especially at last 60 credit hours, pre-req, and GRE. Beyond that, what also helps your chances a lot is applying early.Hi Guys, I am new on this site as I started preparing for DPT about a year ago.
My first degree was in Electronics Engineering . As it is, I have the stats below:
Prerequisite GPA : 4.00/4.00
Last 60 hours GPA: 3.45
Shadowing experience: 90 hours
What are my chances of getting into a PT school with this stat. I had applied to UNT but have not heard from them yet. I am planning to apply to other schools after my GRE. Any advise here will be appreciated.
University: of Illinois at Chicago
Major: Kinesiology; Movement science concentration
Overall GPA: 3.62
Pre-Req GPA: 3.6... (Not sure yet)
GRE: 145 QR; 138 VR :-(
Extra-Curric: Computer technician; familiar with windows (hardware and software) reparation and installation. Fluent in French.
Volunteer: 14 observation hrs distributed between a sports clinic and an orthopedic private practice. Two years as a Prepharmacy Association Webmaster; Volunteered 3 times in community services (15 days each summer for 3 years) where we cleaned up green spaces and the beach.
Acceptances: I didn't apply yet

Please help!!! Am I too late to apply for the 2011-2012 academic year ???? I recently took GRE and I got low score; also, it seems that I am running out of time to complete my observation hours --- I started my observation hours early this fall semester then I couldn't finish them because I was too busy studying for my fall semester exams. Now After the fall semester was over, I took the GRE this morning and I didn't do that well. Later on today, I called the places I used to shadow at but they said that they have other students shadowing;;;; Do you guys think that it will look alright if I mention (in PTCAS application) that my observation hours in progress till I finish them.
Should I just go ahead and apply?
Is it too late for me to apply?
When should I submit my PTCAS application if I am interested to apply to Thomas Jefferson University?
Any advise would be appreciated
Thank you all

I haven't heard back from the interview at Belmont and won't hear from the Alabama schools until January for interviews. I'm sending everything out to Emory in the next couple of days so we'll see on that! I'm not sure what my chances are there, but I love the school and wanted to try. If anyone has heard anything from these schools please let me know what my chances are or what they think about them?!
Good luck to everyone! 🙂

I interviewed at Belmont and got a letter in the mail on Saturday (I got waitlisted). I was waitlisted at UTC as well. But did get into UTHSC in Memphis, thank the Lord! I know that UAB starts their programs in January unlike many programs that start in the fall, so that may be part of the delay on hearing back from them. Good luck to you!
I've been lurking on this forum for a while, so I thought I would post my stats. I've been working as a GIS professional (quite unrelated) since I graduated in 2009.

I've been lurking around this forum for quite some time. It's about time I put up some stats.

Wait listed: Southwest Baptist
Acceptances: None yet.
Rejections: Samuel Merrit, Regis
Interviews: Bellarmine received 1/9
Wait listed for an interview at USA. Weird, right?
Crossing my fingers and toes I'll be one of the lucky few to get into PT school despite having such a low cGPA. I've been taking post-bacc classes ever since I graduated to try and pull my GPA up.
Thanks for sharing your stats and info. Can you tell me more about the USA interview wait list? Did they email you or call you? USA is my first choice and my GPA is low from my undergrad too so I may be in the same boat.
University: Wichita State University
Major: Exercise Science
Overall GPA: 3.82
Pre-Req GPA: 3.47
GRE: 1050
Extracur: Volunteer with USBC
Volunteer/Hrs: 600 ( I work as a PT tech) Wondering now if I reported that correctly...
Applied: FIU, Nova, U of Miami, Duke and Pacific University(which I think I will decline now)
Acceptances: FIU, Nova
Rejections: None
Interviews: FIU
Kind freaking out b/c I haven't heard anything from Miami which is my first choice and feel that my stats should put me in contention for sure. I have to give Nova a non-refundable deposit of $1000 by the 16th.
I never expected the waiting game to be so F**ing stressful. I have so many thoughts of potential scenarios going through my head it is about to explode!!!!!!
Just Curious; why is Miami your first choice? Have you been emailed and offered an interview slot? They started the interview process a few months ago. If not email or call them and inquire . I know of a few people that interviewed and were offered admission about three weeks after via certified mail. the good thing is that you were offered admission to two schools . as a back up plan which do you prefer/ Do you think that the higher tuition that Nova charges is worth it over FIU?
Can you tell me what the interview at Rhode Island was like?University: Western Carolina/Central Connecticut
Major: Sport Management/Physical Education
Overall GPA: 3.67
Prereq GPA: 3.75
GRE: 1280 (Q - 740 V - 540 A - 4.5)
Extra Cur: Track & Field/Cross Country (4 years)
Volunteer: 100 hours (in/out patient, cardio pulmonary, OT)
Applied: UNC-Chapel HIll, Western Carolina, Rhode Island, Hartford
Interviews: Rhode Island
Acceptances: Rhode Island
Rejections: UNC-Chapel Hill
They do the majority of their interviews on 1/6 and 1/7, with more interviews on 1/18 and 1/23. I don't know if they have them beyond that. They invited me a few days ago.Harnettjaw, I also applied to Rhode Island... just curious, when did you hear back from them?
Just over viewing this thread and wanted to ask you if your were aware the application to Miami was due back in mid October? I beleive you missed the deadline if the application was sent at the date you stated. My application was sent by PTCAS on 11/8. Do you know when the people who already interviewed applied?
The deadline refers to the e-submit date, and not the date that PTCAS actually sends out the applicants' materials.Just over viewing this thread and wanted to ask you if your were aware the application to Miami was due back in mid October? Yeah as the person above said, I submitted my app to PTCAS by Miami's Oct deadline but according to PTCAS Miami had not received it until 11/8. I am thinking that this is the reason why I haven't heard anything back to date. I think I will hear something but it may be later than other people who submitted back in Aug or Sept. Therefore, I will have to suck it up and put $1,000 deposit on a credit card for my back up plan.
Blah!
