GPA's, GRE's, XTRA's, ACCEPTANCES

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did anyone apply/interview at Texas State? I wasn't nervous at all, none whatsoever. My interview went very well. I was rejected from Texas State, but I didn't mind because I received my UTMB acceptance a few days earlier. Anyway, I thought I was a shoe in at their program. Strange...
I got an acceptance there a couple weeks ago, but just declined it today!

my prereq GPA is a 3.6. my overall GPA with retakes is a 3.4.

it's less like i feel like i HAVE to apply to more schools and more like i'm stressing about tweaking my supplemental essays and allowing for a little more time shadowing.

i'm sure i'm not the only nontraditional applicant who is pulling gray hairs out daily and mentally screaming, AHHHHH I'M 30 AND I JUST WANT TO BE IN SCHOOL AND LEARNING AND NOT WORRYING ANYMORE!

I feel your pain and anxiety too! Im 30, a non-traditional student and am just waiting nervously to hear back from schools. Its hard b/c at this stage of our lives we have taken a step back from one job or another to pursue this passion of PT that has no guarantees.

My undergrad in business admin (2006) was pretty bad, but at that point in my life i lacked a lot of direction.

My stats are:

pre-req gpa: 3.94
cumulative gpa: 2.75 ( this is the crux)
cumulative last 60 gpa: 3.1
gre
-verbal: 155
- quantitative: 156

I worked for 14 months as a PT aide and prior to that i was a social worker at a group home for over 3 years. I returned to school in 2012 for 2 years to knock out pre reqs and every class I have taken since 2006 I have received an A in. If the bigger picture is observed then I am optimistic that a school will accept me. That cumulative GPA will be the kicker though.

There is a lot of uncertainty going into this, but if we can just stay positive, learn from the experiences and feep pushing forward then things will unfold as they should.

Best of luck!

Just wondering, why didn't you apply to CSULB's PT program? I was thinking about applying ED there in 2 years or so. What is it like over there at the Beach?

Thank you! CSULB has a good program and if I didn't get Chapman I would have applied there. For me, the atmosphere and conversations with former and current students made me lean towards Chapman. Definitely check out whichever schools you are interested in and talk to the students about their experiences.

I'm not sure if my stats are on par with other applicants, so i've been combing this forum looking for answers. I'm applying to SDSU only because it will save me the most money in the long run, so i'm kind of taking a chance on a school that has not been accredited yet. If anyone has any thoughts/advice about my chances of getting in (or even if you know when the letters of acceptance/rejection are sent out) it would be greatly appreciated! And good luck to all those that are applying 🙂

So where are you thinking you will go? $150k for the USC program sounds a little too frightening to me...

No clue as of right now. I want to attend all interviews and weigh options based on cost of tuition/housing, my experiences and my happiness with whatever city I end up living in! Honestly any debt is frightening to me but go big or go home right? Just kidding. I don't want to go to a school simply because I'll have less debt. Taking everything into consideration.

Also, I wasn't going to share my idea but I plan to get invited to the Ellen show where she will award me with a generous check to apply to tuition so... that means I won't have to worry about it 😉 If anyone steals my idea... you're toast :slap:

I applied to more schools than I actually needed (21 all in all 😵) for the reason that my undergrad GPA is low and the statistics of DPT programs with international students weren't that high.

I am beyond overwhelmed at this point, but it's a decision between TWU and NYU. Any words of advice as to which school to go to is highly appreciated!🙂

There is a thread going right now in pre-PT talking about TWU versus another school (not NYU). Might still be helpful. And I'm sure there have been numerous threads on both schools in the past if you search. 🙂 Good luck!

Looks like I won't be going to CSUN...oh well, it probly was one of the harder schools I applied to considering its an in-state California school. Also, UNLV confirmed that my application was complete. I dunno if I would be a good fit in Vegas though, I might spend all my free time at the casinos playing poker hahaha

Also, apparently the admissions director at Western sent me an email 3 times regarding an interview, and I didn't respond so they sent me an email asking why I withdrew from my application. For some reason I never received the 3 emails from the director (even after checking my spam). So, the only reason I found out about it was through the email asking about my withdrawal. Hopefully this won't affect my chances of getting in as they are rolling admissions (I believe?), and I could have had an earlier interview date.

I was definitely going until I received an interview invitation to Emory yesterday as well! It was a great day! I will be sending in a deposit and also be waiting to see what happens with Emory, as that was originally my top choice. Are you and @jquitt going?

Im going to put down my deposit as well but im still waiting to hear back from a couple of other schools too!!! but im about 80% sure ill end up going to GW 🙂

What the heck, >95 people on a waitlist...that school would have to have a matriculation rate of like 5% for the waitlist to actually need to be that long... :bullcrap:
