In one of your posts you said you are going to work in TX. Why not apply to a TX OT school? (I'm just curious as to why you chose BPC)

I'm at Bay Path College, extra-curric: tennis team, volunteer: lots of hours at a local nursing home. The reason I'm at BPC I got hospital tuition assistance and only three small colleges were on the list of options with the hospital. BPC was the best option out of them.

Applying to: Samuel Merritt for 2013.

Is my application looking ok?

Just check that Samuel Merritt is not requiring the GRE still. I do know they added it for a few programs. Also I would not put all your eggs in one basket at SMU. Last year they had some incredible candidates that did not get in.
PS: The GRE is a pain, but its not too stressful and its worth taking to open up your options. I do not shine at standardized tests but took it and all turned out fine. My score is below average, but I was able to submit it to schools that required it. I got into programs people said I would not.
Good luck!!

hi OT1234,

Congrats to all of your acceptances. Do you mind sharing what number you were on the waitlist for CSUDH and if you eventually got in? That's my number once choice and I'm worried about my chances for getting in.

Hi xkiwilicious,

I would check out the CSUDH thread in the forum. Just search and it should come up.. Probably a lot of discussion activity back in Sept 2011 on it. If I recall correctly there is a lot of variety in the stats of those they accept.

Hello I graduated from CSULB as well and had similar grades as yours however my pre-req's are all C's (I'm a B average and was always so close to getting B's). I haven't taken my anatomy and physio classes yet due to it being so impacted. I'm planning to take my GRE's by this year so that I get finish my sciences and apply for CSUDH by next Fall 2013. What are my chances of getting into CSUDH?

When I applied, the admissions counselor, Rosa, advised getting OT shadowing experiences in as many settings as possible. If you have trouble landing opportunities, try to get informational interviews, do research, whatever you can to expand your knowledge of the diversity within OT. I took her advice to heart and it seems to have helped. Good luck!

Thanks! I've been calling up a few clinics around my area for more experience, but haven't gotten any call backs yet. Time to be a bother and call them a couple more times :D

At any rate, Samuel Merritt is no longer an option. High tuition cost, living expenses, and the fact that it required biology before applying ( I won't be able to take it before the deadline) makes it a no go.

This was my second round applying. Last year I was accepted to Findlay's weekend program in Ohio, but ended up turning it down due to finances.

They did not number the waitlist from what I recall.. I never got accepted and I believe the main reason is because I am out of state. Good luck!

GRE: trying to avoid it!! :scared:
Hours: I'm trying to get more observation hours but I have at the moment 300 hours working as a Mobility Aid (not a transport aide, I guess you could consider it as a Rehab Aid/Tech). I also have 25 hours with a school OT.

Thinking about applying to: Bay Path, D'Youville, SUNY, Chatham, Samuel Merritt, Towson and others.

My stupidity during my freshman year and part of my sophomore year really killed my GPA :( Do you think schools can see past this, esp seeing my pre-req and last 60 GPA? I've really matured these past couple of years and have been highly motivated to become an OT. I love everything about this job, especially the connection you can make with patients. It's just that 3.1 GPA that's scaring the crap out of me!

Honestly, what are my chances at these schools? I am very open to constructive criticism so any help is much appreciated.

You should post another thread with your questions so it is more visible. A lot of readers pass by this section.
Don't stress too much about your cumulative GPA, unless you are applying to schools that explicitly state that cumulative GPA is a major component and weighed heavily in the application process Focus on your unique experiences and strengths. Also, the GRE is not that bad. If it opens up more schools for you take it. Good luck!! :)

Hi, I actually have an interview with Loma Linda University for their MOT program. Does anyone have any past experiences with their interviews? Like what kinds of questions they'll ask? Or how I should be prepared?

I wanted to post this for those who also have lower overall GPAs because I was very worried about getting into a program with how competitive they are. I also do not have too much experience so that was worrying me as well but I really think that the fact that I kept in contact with various people at schools and also my personal statement helped me get in! Hi OTlove88

Your post gave me some hope because I also have a lower overall GPA and a high prerequisite GPA. Would you mind telling me how long it took for Rush to notify you of your acceptance after your interview and if you were notified by e-mail or "snail mail."

Thank you!

I think I actually got early acceptance from my interview group - so please don't lose hope because I was shocked I got in there and UW-Madison since they are both really good programs!
