Am I the only one having day to day anxiety about this process? First of not getting into a program, and if you do get in, some options might end up being too far and or if you get into your last option but having it be too expensive? I'm applying to 6 schools but really only want to go to 2 because of price and convenience. Would be lucky to get into any of them, but I feel like this is such a hopeless process

I FEEL THE SAME WAY! I'm applying to 11 schools and am praying that I just get into a school. Every time I see that I have an e-mail my heart stops because it could possibly be from a school (it never is!). I just want to know if I'm going to get in somewhere already!

I came onto this forum a lot and really got discouraged when I would see what other people's stats were. I was starting to think about what I was going to do if I didn't get accepted into a school. But, different schools emphasize different things. There's people on here who I thought had amazing grades, experience, etc. but still didn't get accepted to certain schools. Then there's other people who had super low GPAs but still ended up somewhere. SO don't be like me and freak yourself out by comparing yourself to other people. Every school is unique and you'll eventually find your perfect fit. Try to stay positive, and again good luck to everyone!!

My number one choice is Philadelphia university but I'm worried about my gre score

I also did terrible on the GRE. One school told me they couldn't make a decision until I retook them. I was super bummed and was starting to think that my GRE score was going to mess up my chances for schools despite having a good GPA and experience. However, I was just notified of an acceptance from one of my top choices today! They even informed me that I was a "top candidate." So, the GRE isn't everything. I really think it depends on the school and how much they weigh on the score. There is still hope you could get into a program based off of your other qualifications! Good luck 🙂

For CSUDH, I think my interview really wowed them. For both CSUDH and SJSU... well they must have liked my stats enough to accept me haha. I think they were mostly impressed with my hours and LOR's. By the time I stopped volunteering, I easily had over 400 hours, so that's always a game changer. I still can't believe I got into OT school the first time around, and I'm even more amazed that I got into my top choice. Life can sometimes give the greatest presents! Now it has come to my attention that in my last post, I didn't use the smiley dancing face! How could I forget! But now I get to finally use it! Whoo hoo!

I sent an email inquiring, but I've yet to hear a response. There were a few dates in November, but there were selected within the first few days. The December dates were the 5th, 12th,19th, and 22nd.

You should definitely call them. When I called Jeff the woman I spoke to was very respectful and gave me the right person to email, who then responded to my email right away. $1,000 is definitely not worth spending for an interview, especially since you're not guaranteed an acceptance. Spending that to visit in the spring once your accepted seems much more appropriate.
In addition to asking them about a Skype or phone interview, you should see if they will reimburse some or all of your travel expenses (you may be surprised, some schools do have a budget for that...)

Is that already accounting for traffic? I think that is a lot considering a lot of programs have you in classes from 9-5 so you could be getting up early and getting home late and then you would have coursework to complete. It would also potentially complicate fieldwork assignments and any research your program might require you to do. OT programs are pretty time-demanding, so time-demanding they suggest students do not seek employment, even 4-8 hours a week. Your commute would certainly add up to that and the gas would be killer. I know some people make that commute to work, but they also don't always bring their work home with them, unlike a graduate student.

well is it semi part time, about 3 classes each semester and one day of field work which I assume I can find closer to my area so not sure

You should definitely apply regardless if you feel that the program is a good fit for you! If accepted you can then contact current students and inquire. You could even contact the program now and ask if you can be put in contact with a current student to ask about their experiences and then you could inquire about the commute issue. A part-time program will have a different format so that will change how feasible it is for travel.

I heard back from Temple in December I think during the first few days of notification from them. I had applied in October and was already verified by OTCAS when I applied. I did not accept a seat in their class and the deadline they asked for my deposit was right before Christmas so now that offices are back in full swing, I am sure more acceptances are going out now. I don't know about any of those other schools. Good luck though!

I was so nervous about applying because my GPA isn't competitive. But luckily there are some GREAT programs that look at the applicant as a whole instead of just going by the numbers. There's a lot of hope out there for those with a not so perfect Gpa!!

I've been lurking here for the past year and it seemed like it was about time to post my stats. Reading other people's stats helped me with my wait so I thought I would return the favor. My OTCAS was verified 1/15 (the deadline for 2 of my schools, talk about cutting it close!). I know that my app was just verified and sent to my schools, but I'm already getting a bit anxious to hear from the colleges. Can anyone tell me how I look for USciences? Does anyone have an idea of when I should hear back from any of these schools?

I got accepted to Philly U today. They informed me via email just before noon and I am definitely going to attend. Their schedule seems like it should work really out well with my family life.
