My community college is letting me turn my F and D into a W, but either way I retook and got A's. This is because of my grandpa's death. Does it really matter between an F or a W since I retook anyway and got an A?

Translation of above post: if the grades were for pre-med classes, it won't matter because they'll already have turned you down due to the fact that the grades are from a community college. Go retake them at a university. If they're just filler classes, W is better than F or D.

I don't know why this is in this forum but the notion that they'd reject you for taking premed classes at a CC is perpetuated by SDN and premed advisors. A W will get ignored so long as you don't have more than a couple and you got good grades in the retake. The W is much better than the F as a W just means you withdrew for whatever reason and not that you failed.
How many people do you know that fulfilled their premed criteria at a community college? I can't think of any, and yes, we've discussed it. I did a lot of interview tours my first couple years so it came up.

I've been on interviews where i've been told my two C-s disqualified me. I know why they interviewed me, but on some level, i dont know why they did. Going for me was: I had a pretty good GPA beyond it (3.28 GPA when it was all said and done), I had gone to a very competitive university, I had a 34 on my MCATs and the two classes I got the C- in, Orgo I and Physics I, I followed up with an A- and B+ in orgo II and physics II with the same teachers.
yet two C-s led to me having multiple interviews where i was rejected for them. Some schools (NYMC, SUNY Downstate) were diplomatic about it and just rejected me 14 days later. My personal favorite was UMDNJ which told me "I was the most qualified person they couldn't ever accept" followed immediately by UVM where the interviewer shook my hand and told me that he would "fight for me to get in tooth and nail, but the admission crew is going to overrule [him] immediately because they just won't care."
thats how it works my man. You have a decent blemish, even if everything else is extremely strong.... well... you'll be told to your face that its why you won't get in if you're lucky like me. Though I'll never understand why I was told to show up for the interview if those two grades from the same semester eliminated be pre-emptively.
