Graduate level Bio and Math classes

I am currently working on my Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. If I take graduate level Bio classes, will it count towards my BCPM GPA? How about graduate level Math classes? Thanks!

Good question. I think they do, because I took (one or two?) graduate level bio classes and my BCPM, which I included in my calculations, and AMCAS's BCPM calculations were identical.

Thanks TRN1983. Were you by any chance a graduate student while you took those courses? Also, do you think Math courses will be counted towards the BCPM GPA?

No, i was an undergrad. And, the M in BCPM stands for math so they'll definitely be counted. I'd have to imagine even the graduate ones will be counted if AMCAS counted my graduate level bio classes.

Thanks TRN...I hope they count it although I will have to assign it as GR instead of an undergrad class classification. I hope those don't affect whether they end up counting as BCPM or not.

Exact same position as you. Had bio and math grad classes for Master's, AMCAS counted both as GR BCPM GPA. Had 1-2 other engineering courses which when in the AO (All other) GPA. PM me if you have any specific questions on how to enter them etc

Question for the graduate students applying: Were your Master's degrees completely separate from your undergrad (i.e. different schools or didn't take any grad courses until you finished your undergrad)? I am a bioengineering graduate student applying this round and I am unsure of how to enter my transcript grades. I graduated this May, but had taken some grad courses using the "reserve credit" system at my school, which is similar to 4+1 programs where you can start grad courses during undergrad without yet being admitted to the grad program. I was formally accepted to begin my graduate studies during this summer and am due to graduate this upcoming May. Although the grad courses I took in the Spring are intended to count toward my graduate degree, the are listed as part of my undergrad degree (same institution) and calculated as part of my undergrad degree. Should I list the courses as both graduate and undergraduate even though my grad program technically did not start until the summer? Amcas does not adequately explain this and I can't see a pre-med advisor for several weeks, which doesn't help as I intend to submit my app soon. Does anybody know anything about this or have any suggestions?!

Your undergrad and grad GPA's are completely separate. Neither will affect the other no matter what classes you take.

For AMCAS purposes they will be counted as undergrad as was the case with me and a few of my friends.

Graduate school is counted as graduate school and not towards your undergraduate BCPM GPA. If you are looking to any graduate course to raise your uGPA, it will not happen. Graduate credit is weighted differently from undergraduate credit. You are expected to have a high graduate GPA (above 3.6) or your graduate programs become a liability.

If your "graduate level Bio" courses are taken as an undergraduate, they will count towards your BCPM GPA but they will not count if you are currently enrolled in a graduate program and taken as electives in said graduate program. Be sure that you understand the difference between taking graduate course work as a undergrad or as a graduate student in a graduate program.
